6:30AM. Wednesday Intervals.

Every Wednesday, I complete my personal high-intensity run session for the week.

It’s a session that challenges me, humbles me, and reminds me that growth is always found on the other side of discomfort.

This morning, Behr and Henryk joined me.

If I’m being honest, moments like these mean more to me than any pace, split, or workout result ever could.

As a coach, I am incredibly proud and grateful to be surrounded by young athletes who are actively pursuing transformation. Not because someone is forcing them to. Not because they have to.

Because they want to become better.

They choose the early mornings.
They choose the hard work.
They choose the process.

Watching athletes show up before school to do difficult things inspires me far more than they probably realize. It challenges me to continue leading by example and reminds me daily why ASP exists in the first place.

The goal has never been simply building faster athletes.

It’s helping young people discover what they’re capable of when they commit to something hard and stay faithful to it.

Thank you, Behr and Henryk, for sharing the road this morning.

Year 1 of a 4-year plan.

A lot can happen in a year.

A second child arrived.

Over 1,000 miles have been run.

12–14 hours of training have been completed every week, balancing full-time dad duty, business, and bringing the best of myself to those whom I’ve been entrusted with in this life.

On April 1st of last year, I went for my first run ever. It was 3.49 km at what was essentially a speed-walking pace. I remember finishing and wondering what was possible if I simply kept showing up.

Since then, I haven’t looked back.
This comparison is from one year apart. The result? 17 minutes faster with a lower average heart rate.

Just a year of showing up.

I have zero expectations for any individual race, HYROX, or competition that falls within this long-term plan. Every event is simply another step forward. Another opportunity to learn. Another brick in the wall.
Patience matters.

The goal is not to be impressive today. The goal is to see how far I can go with the gifts, skills, talents, and abilities I have been blessed with, while inspiring as many people as possible through the process.

A huge part of that process has been bringing others along with me.

Many of the athletes at ASP have joined me on runs, trained alongside me, and even stepped onto the HYROX competition floor with me. Watching them embrace difficult challenges and discover what they are capable of has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

More importantly, my children are watching.
They see the early mornings.
They see the preparation.
They see the commitment when nobody is looking.

I don’t care if they grow up to love running, HYROX, sports, or something completely different. What I hope they learn is that meaningful things take time. That progress is earned. That discipline matters. That showing up matters.

If this journey teaches them to trust the process, commit to something difficult, and pursue excellence with patience, then it will have been worth far more than any finish time.

Show up every day.
Don’t negotiate with the effort required today.
Trust the process.
Trust the boring work.
Trust what you’ve been given.
The results will arrive when they’re ready.

One of my favorite Proverbs is Proverbs 14:4:

“Where there are no oxen, the barn is clean, but from the strength of an ox come abundant harvests.”

As coaches, it would be easy to focus on keeping things comfortable.

Easy training.
Easy expectations.
Easy conversations.

But that’s not what produces growth.

The reality is that becoming a stronger, faster, more confident athlete is often messy.

There are missed lifts.
Tough practices.
Bad games.
Injuries.
Moments of self-doubt.
Days when motivation is nowhere to be found.

And that’s okay.

Because I care far more about who our athletes are becoming than I do about protecting them from discomfort.

I want them to learn that hard work matters.
That consistency matters.
That confidence is earned.
That setbacks are not failures.
That they are capable of more than they think.

Every challenge they overcome today becomes a strength they carry with them for the rest of their lives.

That’s why we coach the way we do at ASP.

Not because we love hard work for the sake of hard work—but because we genuinely care about our athletes and believe in what they’re capable of becoming.

The harvest is worth it.

Keep showing up.
Keep trusting the process.

We’re in this together. 💙

DO HARD THINGS.

One of my favourite parts of coaching is when athletes stop talking about challenging themselves and actually go do it.

Today, Jada and I competed together in the HYROX Atlantic Series Blended Athletics ~ Gym

As a coach, I spend a lot of time encouraging athletes to sign up for the race, take the shot, enter the competition, put themselves out there, and embrace being uncomfortable.

I think it’s important that I do the same.

Over the past 3 months, Jada and I have trained for this event. We’ve shared tough workouts, tired mornings, sore legs, and plenty of moments where it would’ve been easier to choose comfort.

But growth doesn’t happen there.

Watching Jada attack this challenge today made me incredibly proud. Not because of a finish time or a result, but because she committed to something difficult and followed through.

That matters.

The mission of ASP has never been simply to create better athletes.

It’s to help young people develop confidence through action, resilience through adversity, and character through commitment.

Today was a reminder that confidence isn’t something you’re given.

It’s something you earn by keeping promises to yourself.

Proud of you, Jada.

Now it’s time to recover… and start looking for the next challenge. 💙

Work works. 💪🏻🔥

WE’RE BUILDING MORNING PEOPLE. ☀️

15 athletes. 6:45AM.

While IT IS SO EASY for most people to still hit snooze, our crew was already putting in the work.

And that’s exactly why I love mornings.

As a dad of two young kids, I know that if I want to train, it needs to happen before the day starts. Before the emails. Before the coaching. Before the responsibilities. Before the excuses.

The reality is that life doesn’t get less busy.

You simply get better at prioritizing what matters.

What makes me proud isn’t that these athletes showed up early.

It’s that they’re learning a skill that will serve them for life: the ability to do hard things before they’re required to.

Discipline.
Ownership.
Consistency.

Those things don’t magically appear when you’re older. They get built one early morning at a time.

15 athletes chose growth over comfort today.

That’s a pretty special community to be part of.

ASP Family — keep showing up. Keep stacking days.

Work works. 👊

ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT | CHLOE HERMAN ⛸️💙

Four years.

That’s how long Chloe has been showing up, putting in the work, and trusting the process at ASP.

And the results continue to speak for themselves:

⚡️ 10.5% Increase in Jump Momentum
⚡️ 15.3% Increase in Peak Relative Power
⚡️ 7.3% Increase in Takeoff Velocity

For a figure skater, these aren’t just numbers.

They’re more explosive jumps, more powerful takeoffs, greater confidence on the ice, and a stronger athlete behind every performance.

What makes Chloe’s journey so special is her consistency. Year after year, she continues to invest in herself, develop her athleticism, and prove that long-term commitment always wins.

Watching Chloe grow both as an athlete and as a young person over the last four years has been incredible.

We’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished, Chloe, and we’re even more excited about what’s still ahead.

The best athletes aren’t built in weeks. They’re built over years.

And Chloe is living proof.

ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT | MARIA SAUNDERS 💙🏐

This is what happens when consistency wins.

Over the past several months, Maria has continued to show up, put in the work, and trust the process.

The result?

⚡️ 15% Increase in Jump Height
⚡️ 23% Increase in Peak Power
⚡️ 13% Increase in Jump Speed
⚡️ 20% Increase in Jump Momentum

For a volleyball athlete, that’s more explosiveness, more confidence, and more presence at the net.

What makes this special isn’t just the numbers.

It’s watching another athlete in our community discover what they’re truly capable of when they commit to the process.

Maria is proof that development isn’t built in a day.

It’s built one session, one rep, and one decision at a time.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Maria.

The scary part?

You’re just getting started. 🔥

🥇Stroller and Stroller PB for the King and I!
Run! 🏃‍♂️🧁

Julian and I had an absolute blast and were fortunate enough to take home 1st place in the stroller division, along with setting a new stroller personal best on our way to the finish line!

A special shoutout to Brooklyn, who joined us for the first half of the race in her very first 5K event. She stepped outside her comfort zone, embraced the challenge, and did exceptionally well. We couldn’t be prouder of her effort and courage today.

Finally, a huge thank you to Lee and the crew at Halifax Road Hammers for the coaching, guidance, and support to start 2026 as I work toward Toronto Half Marathon this October.

Days like today are a reminder that running is about so much more than times and results. It’s about family, community, growth, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Now it’s time for muffins. 🧁💙💪
