I need to explain something that's been in my brain for a while. Every time I join a restorative yoga class and I settle into the first pose, the initial thought going through my mind is "this is going to be boring".
I start to wonder why I chose the restorative class over vinyasa or running or weight lifting. That I should be doing something more productive, even stretching would be better! And every time by the time I'm 15 minutes into the class, I feel the shift. In my mind, in my nervous system and in my heart.
Time melts away and nothing matters except this deep rest. My body begins to feel like home again. Sometimes I slip away into blissful meditation, sometimes I fall into yogic sleep (yoga nidra).
Every time I'm reminded again that rest is productive. Every time I discover more about myself. Every time I accept my authentic self more and more. Just one class shifts my entire world in the most productive way for the next little while.
Restorative yoga should be prescribed by doctors - it's that powerful. So here's your reminder to do more restorative yoga! ๐ซถ
