Legacy Cup Fundraising competition 2026

Spankers Thursday Club have been playing a nine-hole social golf competition every Thursday at the Yeppoon Golf Club on the coast of Central Queensland.

We formed in 2009 as a small group of teachers and their partners from Yeppoon State High School. It wasn’t long before it became a broader base comprising tradies, graziers, teachers, miners and ex-businessmen including Veterans of the Australian Armed Forces.

We wanted to commemorate ANZAC Day with a golfing competition and were inspired to donate to Legacy after finding an old Legacy golf trophy hidden in the bottom of a storage box. The Club fondly acknowledges the work that Legacy does with supporting the families of deceased or injured Veterans as a result of their service and decided that a fundraising day would best show their support for those that have served.

JAMANA Investments Pty Ltd was our major sponsor, donating $500 for the event, which included three vouchers valued at $25.00 each for a lucky draw as well as $425 for the Rockhampton and CQ Branch of Legacy.

We had 38 nominations for the inaugural event. Winner of the trophy was Mike Holdstock and runner up Russell Collins while The Moose (last place) went to Peter Steele.

The total raised for Legacy Rockhampton and CQ was just over $1200.00.

We are looking forward to this becoming an annual event on our golfing calendar.

Dysart Open

Congratulations to Gayelene Wode who won B Grade gross runner up in the Dysart ladies open last weekend.

1770 Open

Gladstone Vets Open

Friday Afternoon Ambrose

The winners of the Friday afternoon Ambrose last week were Jack and Jayden, and the Golden Hole winner was Liam.

Due to the LNP Charity Day tomorrow there will be no Ambrose this Friday.

Raffles - There will be no raffles at all this weekend as we have a Charity Day on Friday and the Golf Buggy raffle on Saturday. However, we will still draw a winner for the members draw on Saturday.

Tickets are now sold out for the Bodhi Surf Buggy; it will be drawn on Saturday the 30th of May at the Yeppoon Golf Club between 5.30 and 6pm.

Friday Afternoon Ambrose

The winners of the Friday afternoon Ambrose last week were Liam and Mark, and the Golden Hole winner was Liam.

Hello Fellow Golfers,

My Name is Howden Farrar and as a former Yeppoon Golf Club member, I would like to pass on an opportunity for anyone who may want to either grab a bargain or add to their golf club collection from the hundreds of golf clubs that my father Billy Farrar has amassed. I am undertaking the unenviable task of clearing up his Golf Club workshop and discovered hundreds of golf clubs and golf club parts from Drivers, Fairway Woods, assorted Irons, Wedges and Putters, to this end I feel is would best serve his passion, for Yeppoon golfers to have the opportunity to acquire some of what Billy has collected.

Some older members may remember William “Billy” Farrar a long-standing club member, multiple monthly mug winner, senior club champion and hole in one recipient at the club. Additionally, Billy was not only a good golfer, but skilled at repairing golf clubs.

Why is this important for me?

Sadly, Billy is now 94 years of age and going into palliative care at the Capricorn Gardens Care facility here in Yeppoon and area he and my mother came to love. Following a debilitating illness to his wife “Barby” fell ill and Billy gave up golf to be her full-time carer until her untimely death and disappointingly after her passing even through my encouragement he did not want to come back to playing the game he loved so much.

Nominations for the 2026 Theodore Junior Open are now being accepted. As per previous years there is free camping at Theodore Golf Club on the Saturday night, and all parents and 18-hole juniors can play in Theodore Saturday afternoon competition. Contact details are on the flyer below for those wishing to nominate. This is also a Districts Points Challenge Event.
