Copy of the presentation to Ash Bates on the award of Life Membership of the Wodonga Bowling Club.

It is my pleasure tonight to present a Life Membership— the highest honour our club can bestow.
We honour this person whose contribution has strengthened our club, supported our members, and helped shape our club’s future. It’s a privilege to recognise such extraordinary commitment.
This member has been
• President Men’s Bowls for 3 years
• Chairman Match Committee
• Chairman Selection Committee
• Club Delegate to Ovens & Murray
• Club Coach
• Director of Bowls on the Board of Management from 2021-25
• Member O&M Selection Committee and the Victorian State Selection Committee.
And in his spare time, he managed to:
• Win Club Singles 14 times and was runner up 4 times.
• Win Club Pairs 6 times
• Win Club Fours in 1995
• Dominated the O&M East region over many years, winning Champion of Champions in 1998, 2004, 2006, 2007 2008, 2009 and 2010 and continued to dominate Group 6 of the O&M Region.
• He won State events in Fours, Pairs and Singles from 1999 to 2013 and won the Victorian State Pennant final in 2004, played 150 games for Victoria and was a Victorian State Selector and Coach.
I would now like to invite ASHLEY BATES to come forward to accept Life Membership of the Wodonga Bowling Club. As Ashley comes forward, please join me in recognising our newest Life Member. I would now like invite Ashley to say a few words.

Our footy tipping sponsors from Premix King will be at the club on the Fri 11th September @ 6pm to present the prizes to the winners. On the night we will also draw a random card for the $100 prize for anyone who didn’t win a major prize.

The results of the 2026 PREMIX KING footy tipping are in. Swassy held on to win by 3 on 155. Tracey Henderson just managed to scrape in to grab 2nd on 152. Smithers flew home over the past two weeks to join Ken Barnes for third spot, one further win behind on 151. Many thanks to the PREMIX KING boys, Nick and Jim for their awesome support of this competition. It was much appreciated. Thanks to all who entered. Better luck next year.
