🏀 2026 CBL SEAHAWKS SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT

The Seahawks are locked in!

Congratulations to all players selected in our 2026 CBL Seahawks squad following last week’s tryouts.

There’s plenty to be excited about with this young squad, with several of our emerging Seahawks bringing Big V experience into the CBL season.

A strong group of U20 players will also join the program, providing further opportunities for our young players to train, develop and experience the senior environment as we continue to strengthen the pathway into senior representative basketball.

Under Head Coach Mike McGorm and Assistant Coach Riley Nicolson, preparations now begin for the season ahead.

Congratulations to everyone selected. We can’t wait to see this group hit the court! 💚💙

🏀 CBL MERMAIDS COACHES ANNOUNCED

Warrnambool Basketball is excited to announce Ricky Smedts as Head Coach and Louise Brown as Assistant Coach of our 2026 CBL Mermaids.

Both Ricky and Louise are well known within Warrnambool Basketball and bring a wealth of coaching experience and basketball knowledge to the program.

Ricky steps into the Head Coach role after serving as Assistant Coach of our Big V Mermaids throughout the 2026 season, bringing strong experience and a great understanding of our senior women’s program.

Joining Ricky is Louise Brown as Assistant Coach. Louise has been Head Coach of our Big V Mermaids and brings significant experience both as a coach and from her own playing career, which included time at WNBL level.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have two incredible coaches leading our CBL Mermaids and supporting the continued development of our senior women’s program.

🏀 CBL SEAHAWKS COACHES ANNOUNCED

Warrnambool Basketball is excited to announce the coaching team for our 2026 CBL Seahawks.

We’re delighted to welcome back Mike McGorm as Head Coach. Mike brings a wealth of coaching experience and basketball knowledge to the role, and we’re excited to have him continuing to lead our CBL Seahawks in 2026.

Joining Mike this season is Riley Nicholson as Assistant Coach. A fantastic player for Warrnambool Basketball, we’re excited to see Riley now step into a coaching role as well and share his playing experience and basketball knowledge with the CBL Seahawks.

With our coaching team locked in, it’s time to hit the court!

CBL Seahawks tryouts are coming up next week, with both Open and Youth (U20) teams to be selected.

Whether you’re an experienced senior player or a young player ready to take the next step in your basketball, we’d love to see you at tryouts.

🏀 KEEPING OUR TEAMS ON THE ROAD

A huge thank you to Warrnambool Auto Group and Gateway Hire for their generous support of our KFC Seahawks and Mermaids throughout the 2026 Big V season.

Along with their sponsorship, both businesses provided vehicles to help our teams travel to away games throughout the season.

With plenty of long road trips across a Big V campaign (and plenty of long legs in our teams!), their support helps our players, coaches and team staff get to away games safely and comfortably.

We’re incredibly grateful to Warrnambool Auto Group and Gateway Hire for getting behind Warrnambool Basketball and helping keep our Big V teams on the road throughout 2026. 🏀🚙

🏀 2026 SEAHAWKS SEASON COMES TO AN END 🏀

Our KFC Seahawks’ 2026 Big V campaign has come to an end following a 95–70 Semi Final loss to Mildura on Saturday night.

The Seahawks came out firing, shooting the lights out in the opening quarter to take a 26–25 lead into the first break. Mildura began to gain control in the second before they stepped up the intensity after half time and broke the game open in the third.

Josh Miller led the scoring with 20 points and provided plenty of offensive spark. Arcaim Lallemand was outstanding from the field, finishing with 16 points on highly efficient shooting, while Craig Jackson worked tirelessly on the boards with eight rebounds.

While there were some strong individual performances, it was very much a team effort, with the group continuing to compete through to the final siren.

There is plenty to be proud of from the Seahawks’ 2026 campaign. The guys fought their way into finals with a must win victory in the final round before travelling to Mornington and producing a huge Elimination Final win to earn their place in the Semi Finals.

A huge thank you to our players, Head Coach Shane Smith, Assistant Coach Tom Symons and Team Manager Tony Conn for the time, energy and care they have given to the team throughout the season.

Thank you also to our Seahawks and Mermaids Working Group, scorers, statisticians and all of our volunteers for the incredible work that happens behind the scenes.

🏀 Getting to know our KFC Seahawks & Mermaids… perhaps a little too well!

We asked the players to tell us something we might not know about their coach, Team Manager or teammates.

Turns out there are plenty of hidden talents in the group, some very long standing teammates, a few secret rappers, we definitely need more dirt on Jenna, Harry needs to put those feet away, Eve Covey has apparently mastered the art of sleeping with her eyes open… and BJ, please lay off the ciggies before this week’s big game 🚬

With our KFC Mermaids wrapping up their 2026 season and our KFC Seahawks heading into their huge semi final game this weekend, we thought we’d share a few of the things we’ve learnt about the crew along the way.

The KFC Seahawks are heading to Mildura for a HUGE semi final showdown this Saturday night! 🔥

Coming off a hard fought elimination final victory over Mornington, the Seahawks head into the pointy end of the season in some seriously good form and ready to take on the Mildura Heat.

There’s plenty on the line and the boys will be ready to leave it all on the court.

🏀 150 BIG V GAMES FOR ADAM LAWSON 🏀

A very special milestone for long-time Seahawk Adam Lawson, who took the floor for his 150th Big V game in Saturday night’s elimination final against Mornington. 💚

Adam made his Big V debut for the Seahawks back in 2016 against the Chelsea Gulls, beginning a journey that has now spanned 10 years and 150 games on court in Seahawks colours.

Known as a sharp shooter, Adam’s ability to knock down clutch shots from beyond the arc has been a feature of his game, alongside the experience and commitment he has brought to the Seahawks program over many seasons.

It was fitting that his 150th appearance came on the finals stage, as the Seahawks secured a hard fought 71–60 victory over Mornington to advance to the next round.

From game #1 in 2016 to game #150 in 2026. 💚

Congratulations Adam on an incredible milestone, and thank you for your contribution to the Seahawks over the years. 🏀👏
