What a thrill to win our second Burdekin Growers Cup at Burdekin Race Club. This race used to have so much prestige and was a ballot free entry into the Townsville Cup in the old days, so it is a little sad to see it fade away to a 7 horse race today but nevertheless we are all so proud of First Man for stepping up to the task.

Thank you to all of my usual crew - Enrico, Bonnie, Stace and Terry. Tasha Chambers for a great ride and especially my owners who are just the most supportive bunch of people.

Thank you Adam, you little teeny tiny pony pretending to be a racehorse… just a happy little horse with a big heart 💙

Today we are off on another (short) road trip to one of my most favourite meetings - Burdekin Growers Race Day at Burdekin Race Club!

First Man is making the big step up to 1830m after his last start 2nd at Mackay. Adam is neither bred to run a journey nor built for it but we have decided that there is no better time to try him over it than in this race today.

No guts, no glory 🙌

Another successful trip up the highway to Cairns Jockey Club with Betterlucknexttime getting the QTIS win & Nottington Prince coming a brave 4th.

Thank you to BLT’s owners for making the trip up to cheer him on and thank you to everyone involved - Enrico, Ryan Wiggins for the winning ride, Bonnie for riding work, Stacey for her magic PEMF treatments, Terry for keeping their feet healthy and Tasha for trialling him last Friday….and Jenny for looking after the kids at home.

Onwards and upwards for Bayley after today and hopefully BLT continues to have a bright future with us 💙🤍🖤💚

We are off on yet another road trip tomorrow and heading up to Cairns Jockey Club with 2 runners.

Betterlucknexttime is new to the team and comes here with competitive form from down South. ‘BLT’ has settled in to the steady NQ life and will relish the 1250m trip.

Nottington Prince aka Bayley is coming off a very gutsy 2nd last week and has proven that he likes the Cairns track with 1 start for 1 win. Both boys are absolute pleasures to train and I am sure they will both be fighting it out to the finish!

Just one runner (& 2 trialling after the races) today at Cluden Park.

Nottington Prince has had a nice freshen up since his last start win at Cairns Jockey Club and is looking and feeling a treat leading into his race in the QTIS 3 Year Old over 1000m.

We’re heading on a road trip tomorrow to Mackay Turf Club with just the one runner - First Man.

‘Adam’ was accepted to race here in Townsville today, but after much consideration (and even the tried and true, very professional trainer’s trick of a coin toss), we’ve decided to bite the bullet and head south.

Most know I’m not the best traveller, so here’s hoping for a safe trip and that it’s well worth it.
