Woohooo, there's a new corporate team building event happening on Magnetic Island in October! It's an 'Amazing Race' style event, that everyone can be involved in and have a good laugh! Businesses will have a great weekend of socialising and fun activities and also have the chance to win $2000 of radio advertising and $2000 of marketing expertise! After Hughenden tonight, it's on to Richmond for a Grant Writing workshop. There are quite a few grants out at the moment for Queensland sporting clubs. Has your club got a volunteer who focusses solely on finding and writing grants? If not, then you need one! Grant writing is something people can do in their own time and don't have to commit to being at a certain place at a certain time each week (like being a coach, president or canteen coordinator), so it's the ideal role for shift workers our super busy people. Identify someone in your club that could write a good grant, provide some information that will help them understand grant writing (like the awesome stuff in the resource library of our website) and ask them to submit 2 or 3 each year for the club!

I'm just about to go to Hughenden to present an Athlete Recovery workshop. One thing we'll be discussing is having an Ice/Cold Water Bath after an intense training session or game. Have you ever had one? Yep, not pleasant! They seem to be pretty common practice in sport these days, however, there is still no conclusive evidence to show their benefit. The theory behind them makes sense and plenty of people swear by them, but the best studies can consistently conclude is that they aren't harmful to recovery....
