Cold, muddy, and about as hard as cross country gets!

This week Jono, Pip and Mac pulled on the Vic team colours to race at the Australian Cross Country Championships in Ballarat. Illness and injury meant the results weren't quite what they'd hoped for, but just making that start line at national level is a massive achievement.

11 more JK athletes also raced for their school and club, taking on mud, logs and hills (then more mud). Nearly every one of them called it the hardest run of their life.

Big news for our junior athletes!

The Greater Geelong Junior Triathlon is racing into Eastern Beach on Saturday 24 October 2026, 7:00am start.

It's Vic Triathlon sanctioned AND a Victorian selection event for the 2027 National Championships. This is the real deal.

Three categories to choose from depending on age, wetsuits mandatory for the swim, and a race kit with cap, t-shirt and tote bag from Ghanda for every entrant.

Sophie Secombe Athlete Spotlight

Three State Titles. A four-year-old. And a happy place behind the boat.

Meet Sophie Secombe — she didn't pick up waterskiing until she was 30, and one run behind the boat was all it took. Fast forward and she's a three-time Victorian State Champion and 2026 National podium finisher, training on the Barwon River around a full-time PR career and a very busy toddler.

Her program with Jo and Nathan is built around what matters most on the water — balance, core strength and cardio built for the moment the rope goes tight.

Her words say it best: "Being behind the boat is my happy place."

Big news — JK Training is putting on a juniors-only triathlon, set for Saturday October 24th, and it's set to double as a selection event for Team Vic. More information will be available over the coming weeks and months.

It caps off a massive few weeks of racing, with almost 20 of our athletes heading to Yarra Valley for the SSV State Cross Country Championships, three athletes selected for the Australian Cross Country Championships, a state podium in longboard surfing, and a stunning showing at the Australian All Schools Swimming Champs.

Add in a training session with Brenton Ford from Effortless Swimming, new tri suits landing ahead of the Victorian Duathlon Titles, and two of our own flying the flag around Europe and the Tour de France — it's been a big one.
