Wednesday Rolling | Brown Breaks the Deadlock

Wednesday's Black Tee Par competition produced one of the tightest finishes we've seen in some time, with three players finishing locked together at the top of the leaderboard.

Sally Brown, Sam Henderson and Gregory "Tin Cup" Furney all completed their rounds at +2, leaving the countback system to decide the winner. When the cards were reviewed, it was Sally who emerged victorious, claiming the day's honours after a superb round.

Sam Henderson continued his strong form to finish runner-up, while Furney was left to wonder where a shot may have slipped away after falling just short on countback.

One shot further back at +1 were Paul Beckey, Barry Burgess and Sara Hughes, while Stone Cannon, Guy Angwin, Lizzie Edwards, Luke Saad and Josh Seage all fought their way to even-par rounds.

With sunshine overhead and the course continuing to present beautifully, it was another fantastic day of golf at Teven.

Tuesday Shotgun | Tin Cup Holds Off the Kid

On a picture-perfect winter afternoon, a capacity field descended on Teven for Tuesday's Black Tee Par Shotgun.

With barely a breath of wind, sunshine overhead and greens rolling beautifully, scoring opportunities were there for the taking. As it turned out, it would take a countback to separate experience from youth.

Standing tallest at the end of the day was Greg "Tin Cup" Furney. A man whose Teven folklore already includes launching a golf ball from the bar during competition play - somehow found himself in a head-to-head battle with one of the club's brightest young talents.

Seventeen-year-old Jack Davy matched Furney shot for shot, with both players finishing at +2. But when the cards were examined, it was the veteran who edged the youngster on countback and claimed the chocolates.

One suspects Furney was quietly relieved. Being beaten by a teenager is one thing. Being reminded about it every day in the clubhouse is another.

Just one shot further back were Franki Payne, Torie Mathew and Paul Sironen, all finishing at +1 and keeping the leaders honest throughout the afternoon.

The even-par brigade was a formidable one, featuring Rodney Sironen, Benjamin Small, Steve Blackmore, Adam Schubert, Clayton Oates, Joel Thomson and Jane Denison. On another day, any one of them could have been collecting the winner's voucher.

With the Matchplay Championship now underway and winter conditions settling in beautifully, Tuesday nights continue to deliver exactly what they were designed for—great golf, good company and just enough ammunition for a few friendly conversations in the clubhouse afterwards.

Especially if you're Greg Furney.

Ace Alert | Max Robards

Young Max Robards has achieved one of golf's rarest feats, recording his very first hole-in-one on the Scorpion today.

Playing a social round alongside his father, Max stepped onto Teven's famous uphill par 3 and produced a shot that every golfer dreams about. The ball flew towards the flag, landed on the green and found its way into the cup for an unforgettable ace.

As if the moment wasn't special enough, a group of visitors enjoying the view from the clubhouse witnessed the shot and erupted as the ball disappeared.

For many golfers, a hole-in-one remains a lifelong ambition. For Max, it's already a reality.

The Scorpion has broken plenty of hearts over the years, but today it delivered a memory that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations Max.

Saturday Rolling | Jevic Tops a Packed Field

The sun returned to Teven on Saturday and so did the golfers.

After weeks of dodging rain clouds, a full field greeted the course throughout the morning, eager to enjoy blue skies, firming fairways and a welcome return to winter golf at its best.

Leading the way was Nash Jevic, who produced the round of the day with an impressive 3-under-par performance. Nash was in control from the outset, navigating the course with composure to finish clear of the chasing pack.

A visitor from out of town claimed second spot at 2-under, while the best of the Teven contingent came from Kirby Sironen and Josh Seage. Both players finished at 1-under par, producing the kind of steady, mistake-free golf that is often rewarded around Teven.

The depth of scoring was evident further down the leaderboard, with Ian McDuff, Nicholas Crowder, Mark Perkins, Lizzie Edwards, Jacinta Oates, Jack Lowe, Joel Thomson and Guy Angwin all finishing at even par. On another day, any one of them could have found themselves holding the winner's cheque.

Perhaps the biggest winner of all was the weather. The sunshine brought members back out in force, the tee sheet was full from early morning and there was a buzz around the club that has been missing during the recent wet spell.

If Saturday was any indication, winter golf at Teven is going to be something special.

Matchplay Championship 2026 | The Draw

The bottom half of the 2026 Teven Matchplay Championship bracket is now locked in, featuring former champions, pennants players, rising juniors, seasoned campaigners and more than a few players capable of making a deep run.

Experience and youth collide throughout this side of the draw, with several family rivalries, long-time club competitors and emerging talents all chasing a place in the knockout stages.

As always, matchplay has a habit of ignoring the form guide. One great round, one clutch putt or one timely concession can completely change the path to the final.

Pool play begins now, with players responsible for arranging their own matches over the coming weeks.

Good luck to everyone in the bottom half of the draw. The road to the Matchplay Championship title starts here.
