Ipswich Round 3 Race Report

A strong weekend with both drivers showing excellent pace and consistency across the meeting.

Emerson (25 cadet 9's)

Heat 3: 4th. Set the fastest lap of the race 🟪
Final: Brought it home in 4th place after another hard-fought final.

Aston (24 Junior light drivers)
Qualifying: 7th
Heat 1: 8th
Heat 2: 8th

NQ Series - Whitsunday Kart Club

Emerson – Showed awesome pace from practice right through to the final. Drove consistently and fast all day. Bit of a hiccup in qualifying when Mum stitched him up by forgetting to check tyre pressures… eek, ranging from 5psi to 22psi 😮‍💨 Despite that, he came back strong, took the win for the day, and scored himself $50 💪

Aston – Huge field of 20 competitors in Juniors, with stiff competition across the board. Came out flying in practice on old tyres, but unfortunately went backwards once we switched to new tyres and just couldn’t find that pace again. Mum did her best to help, but she was a bit out of her depth.
Big thanks to Joe Tighe and Lorraine - Troy Farley Race Engines for the advice over the phone, and especially to Chris Pendry and Chris Patroni for stepping in and making changes well outside Mum’s pay grade — my day would’ve been over without your help! Dad owes you both a carton 🍻

Unfortunately, my MyChron stopped working in the final, so we were flying blind with no tuning data. Tried to go off feel, but just couldn’t match it with Cruz and Harper in the final finishing 3rd. .patroni was absolutely flying all day — congrats on the clean sweep! 👏

Victorian State Title 2026 - Albury Wodonga Kart Club

What a disaster!

We knew it would be a tough one with Aston not being on track in Albury for 2 years and Emerson never seeing the track before. It all started with dad's flight being delayed and having to arrive mid way through practice Friday, early morning rain Friday morning and to top it off 2 eager drivers trying to leave the grid pushed Aston across into the pole ripping his rear tyre off and bending the axle, cracking a hub and a rim 😖. Followed by another incident in practice when a competitor tried to shut the door during a pass bending another of Aston's axles.

Racing didn't get much better. A starting penalty even though he was being pushed, a DNF from a driver (the same one from practice who destroyed the kart) passing another driver under a full coarse yellow and taking Aston out in the process. All of this lead to a 27th/40 grid position for heat 3. He made up 11 spots which was awesome. That had him starting in 25th for the final. He drove his ass off and finished 17th after being caught up in a turn one incident that put him last on track. Overall he had good pace in the end which was promising.

Boo was disappointed with his qualifying but made up for it during the heats. He started heat 3 in 9th. Unfortunately, the fuel pick up was stuck and starved the engine of fuel. He kept it on track but had no ability to go fast. This had him starting 16th in the final. Unfortunately also he was run over several time in turn 1 putting him last on track. He drove back to 22 from 30th. Again he had mega pace through the heats.

Onwards and upwards and one to definitely forget 🫣

Happy Birthday Dad! 🎉

From early mornings at work to late nights in the shed, you’ve always been the hardest working man we know. The ultimate chief mechanic, the best coach we could ask for, and never far from a well-earned beer 🍻

Thanks for teaching us everything and for always backing us no matter what. You are always beside us when we are going out to battle on the track and always the first to us after the race. We’re lucky to have you as our dad and our biggest supporter.
