Following recent posts on social media from South Perth Alliance which called into question the Supa-Liga, the club was contacted, via phone regarding the post. The club committee member asked in that call to have some time for the club to discuss internally because the post wasn’t a reflection of the beliefs and feelings of the majority of its members. We agreed to that and asked for a response to our initial Email by close of business Wednesday to explain the situation.
We are supportive of freedom of speech but aspersions do not help futsal to move forward, whether explicit or implicitly written. We have done an enormous amount of work to unite the game in WA, each year helping clubs develop and others to be included and compete.
The email that came back suggested there was no attempt by the club hierarchy to reconsider any of the posted material.
The club was then informed that if that was the clubs position, it is not a tenable or positive relationship and that following their MSLB Grand-Final on Saturday, we would wish them luck in their future endeavours in other competitions.
To the players, coaches, families and administrators of South Perth Alliance, this situation is unfortunate and for most of you, none of your doing. There has been no ban, no suspension. South Perth, and Alliance Futsal Club’s have a strong history and have been a terrific example of the success a merger can bring. We want to continue taking the game forward, for the good of the whole game, and will work with anyone who shares that intent and is able to work collaboratively toward that end.
