Our Senior B Mixed crew was out and about today on their day off exploring some of the magnificent natural beauty and cultural heritage of Taiwan.

Enjoy a few photos of the crew's adventures today which took in, among others, Gangtiangong Temple, Sakul Trail, Taroko National Park (with its bridges and temples and shrines and magnificent natural scenery), the Taroko Visitor Centre, Qingshui Cliff and Seven Stars Beach.

On their agenda tomorrow / Saturday: 2km races at Liyu Lake. Good luck, crew!

A message from Club President Marilyn Prothero to our paddlers, members and supporters:

"Our Nowra Waterdragons took on the Senior B Mixed Small Boat 200m racing in Taiwan on Thursday, finishing sixth in their heat before racing to fourth place in the repechage—ahead of the other Australian crew in the race.

It wasn’t the progression they were aiming for, and we know they’ll be disappointed not to reach the final. But fourth in a world championship repechage, as the leading Australian crew across the line, is a performance worthy of real respect.

Congratulations, team. We’re proud of the way you competed and proud to have you representing our club."

A message from Club President Marilyn Prothero to our Senior B Mixed paddlers who today competed in the 500m small boat races:

"A huge shout-out to our Nowra Waterdragons paddlers competing at the World Club Crew Championships in Taiwan.

Today, they took on the 500m small boat racing, finishing fifth in their heat, and fighting hard for third place in the repechage.

While their campaign didn’t continue to the final, racing with the world’s best is an achievement in itself—and they represented their crew and community with determination and pride.

We’re incredibly proud of you all.

Hold your heads high, Waterdragons—you belong on the world stage."

Club Social Media Team: "So, guys, tell us: how are you all holding up? Nervous? Training hard? Getting in a couple of extra sessions in the hotel gym?"

Robert Smith: "Ha! I'm in Food Heaven! The food is excellent and cheap. Enough dumplings for four people for less than 15 bucks! And there are night markets with all-night food stalls. Who's coming with me?"
