5 girls are travelling to Cairns to compete in the Boundless Aerial competition tonight! Wearing their handmade jackets by coach Raven Thedens. All the girls have been training hard to represent Sundance Studio and themselves in this aerial competition! Go girls!! As we move into June, the pace of the year begins to soften and the invitation is simple: slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself.

At Sundance Studio, our June timetable offers a range of classes designed to support wellbeing through movement, breath, strength, creativity and rest. Whether you're seeking the grounding stillness of Somatic Yin Yoga, the revitalising effects of Pranayama and Breathwork, the gentle awakening of Sunrise Movement, or the joy and challenge of Aerial Arts, there is something here for every body.

This month we are also excited to welcome Kitanna bacak from Melbourne, who brings a wealth of experience in aerial performance and movement to our Junior Aerial program.

As the cooler season arrives in the tropics, June offers an opportunity to nourish the nervous system, build resilience, and create space for practices that support both body and mind.

Children's Aerial Beginners
Ages 8–17 years

Have you ever wanted to fly?

We're excited to welcome Kitanna, a visiting aerial teacher from Melbourne, to Sundance Studio for a special five-week beginner aerial silks program.

With experience in aerial performance and teaching, Kitanna brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity and technical skill to support young people in building confidence, strength and coordination in the air.

Over this five-week block, students will safely learn the foundations of aerial silks in a supportive and encouraging environment, with plenty of opportunity for exploration, play and creative expression.

📍 Sundance Studio, Mission Beach
📆 Starts Thursday 11th June
📆 Final class Thursday 2nd July

What to expect:
• Ground and aerial warm-ups
• Introduction to aerial silks skills and techniques
• Progressive learning at a level suitable for the group
• Creative movement and exploration
• Cool down and stretching

Parents are warmly invited to watch the final 20 minutes of each class to see what their children have been learning.

What to bring:
✔ Full-length leggings
✔ Fitted clothing that covers the backs of knees and underarms
✔ Water bottle

💫 Cost
$35 per class when booking the full 5-week block
$45 casual drop-in rate (subject to availability)

Places are limited to 10 participants.

Kitanna is also available for private aerial coaching while visiting Mission Beach. Whether you're preparing for a performance, refining technique, or looking to accelerate your aerial journey, private sessions can be tailored to your goals.

It's already begun! An incredible offering for the Wellness Weekend - Dijuru 2026

“Jomon Within is a guided exploration of the tapestry of emotion, mind and body through embodied awareness, reflection and observation.” with Yoko Yasui

Yoko describes the workshop in great detail with her emotions, as an experience of self through observation and witnessed acknowledgement in a way that can be difficult to explain, as the deeper you dive into the practice, the less words are needed to describe it.

Inspired by the ancient Jōmon culture of Japan — known for its cord-marked pottery and deep relationship with pattern, material and presence — this workshop explores embodied awareness through simplicity.

Rather than approaching the body through complex systems or intellectual language, we return to direct experience: sensation, repetition, observation and simple action.

Like marks pressed gently into clay, we explore how subtle movements, attention and presence leave their own imprint within us.

The Wellness Weekend 26 is an annual event, it comprises of a whole weekend of curated workshops and events running from the 29th - 31st May in Mission Beach on Dijuru Country.
