On Saturday afternoon we wrapped up the season with our windup. It was a great opportunity to come together and celebrate the year that was.

While it was a tough season on the field with 4 wins, there were still plenty of positives, especially welcoming a number of new players to the club and continuing to build a strong foundation for the future.

🏏 Match Day Tomorrow for Darlo! 🖤🤍

The Darlo boys are back in action tomorrow as we take on Lesmurdie-Mazenod in an away clash starting at 1:00pm at Pickering Brook Sports Club.

A big shoutout to Ethan Warner, who will be stepping in as captain for the match and hoping to lead the lads to a strong finish for the season with a win! We’d love to see plenty of Darlo support there cheering from the boundary. If you’re free tomorrow afternoon, come down and get behind the lads! 🙌

We’ll also be welcoming Shaun Stone, who will be making his debut for Darlo tomorrow. Best of luck mate - great to have you out there in the Darlo colours! 👏🏏

Let’s get out there, make some noise and help push the boys over the line!

It wasn’t the result we were chasing against Mount Lawley but there was still plenty of fight and plenty of highlights from the Darlo boys 🖤🤍

The lads showed great determination with the bat, a ball shy of the full 40 overs but putting a strong total on the board against a quality side. It was a really solid effort and gave us something to defend.

The task got even tougher in the field, with Darlo down to 10 players for 24 overs but the boys kept battling and made Mount Lawley earn the win.

There were some cracking moments along the way:

🔥 Wayne Perna took an absolute screamer of a catch - one of the best you’ll see anywhere!

💪 Jarrad Quinn returned to form with a quick-fire 50, keeping the scoreboard ticking.

🚀 And a great milestone with Tom launching his first 6 - hopefully the first of many in Darlo colours!

A close loss always stings but it’s hard to be too disappointed when you’ve got such a great group of people pulling on the Darlo shirt. It's been an enjoyable season and the team spirit has been outstanding.

One more game to go next week, with Ethan Warner stepping up to have a crack at captaincy. Let’s get around him and finish the season strong 🏏🖤🤍

Not every game goes the way you’d like and our match against Southern Rossmoyne a few weeks back is probably one we’d rather leave in the past. That said, there were still some great moments from within the Darlo group that are worth celebrating 🏏

A huge congratulations to Damien Evans, who absolutely batted his guts out for the team. To top it off, he also picked up his first club wicket and pulled off a brilliant diving catch in the field - a fantastic all-round effort and a well-earned milestone! 👏🔥

Another big shoutout goes to Stu, who claimed his first wicket for Darlington Competitive Cricket Club. Always a great moment getting that first one on the board! 💪

Cricket has its tough days but seeing teammates hit milestones and give everything for the club is what it’s all about. Onward and upward for Darlo🏏

🏏 Match Day – Southern Rossmoyne (Away) 🏏

💥 WE NEED PLAYERS!! 💥

We’re on the road tomorrow as we take on Southern Rossmoyne in an away clash hosted at Emmanuel College. First ball is from 1:00pm and we’d love to see plenty of support down there!

It’s a special day for the club as Quinny brings up his 100th game 🔥 An incredible milestone and a testament to his commitment, passion and contribution over the years. It would be huge to celebrate it the right way with a strong team performance and a win.

That said, we’re a little short on numbers this week. If anyone is able to come down and pull on the whites, even for a half, it would make a massive difference. Extra hands mean less pressure on the lads and a better shot at getting the job done for Quinny’s big ton.

As always, our supporters make a difference. If you’ve got a free afternoon, come down and get around the boys. Every bit of noise and encouragement helps!

Great day of cricket last Saturday! 💪🏏

We might’ve fallen short on the scoreboard against Dianella Cricket Club but this was one of those losses that genuinely felt like a win. They got the result but there weren’t too many celebrations going on and that says a lot about the way we played.

To post 181 was a bloody brilliant effort. The fight, the energy and the belief right through the innings were outstanding. Every bloke contributed and we gave ourselves every chance.

Special mention to Kaneo in his first game of the season. The 10-ball over - featuring two no balls and two wides (one we’ll now officially call a “Johnny Howard bowl” 😅) suggested he might’ve needed a bit more of a warm-up, but to his credit he bounced back in the best possible way, top scoring with a classy 40 off 36 balls. That’s exactly how you respond! 👊

With the ball, the pick of the bunch was Captain Quinny, leading from the front with a superb 3/32. That’s precisely what you want from your skipper 👌

A massive shout-out as well to Rob and Tore on incredible milestones. 150 games for Rob and 100 games for Tore 🖤🤍 Huge achievements and a testament to your commitment to the club. Congratulations lads 👏

We were chasing back-to-back wins and while it didn’t quite happen, this absolutely felt like a winning performance. If we keep playing like that, the results will come.

Proud effort all round. On to the next one 🏏

🖤🤍🏏 100 Games for Quinny! 🏏🤍🖤

A huge congratulations to Jarrad “Quinny” Quinn on reaching 100 matches for the club this Saturday!

Quinny joined Darlo in 2011 while working FIFO, back when the club had three teams. Following Danyal Bennett from Parkerville, he went on to play A Grade for several years, along with D Grade one-dayers, T20s and A Grade formats. He made an immediate impact with 4/25 on A Grade debut. We've included some photos from those earlier playing days 😊

Many will remember the Glen Forrest T20 hamstring injury that saw him carried off by Dom Perella 🤣, a setback that led to a four-year break, but Quinny battled back.

Last season was a reminder of what he’s capable of, smashing a blistering 157 off 76 against Southern Central Districts. He was also crowned PSCA D Grade Champion Player, a well-deserved honour.

Off the field, he’s been just as valuable, joining the committee and now serving as Vice President. From rebuilding numbers to now having selection pressure each week, he’s been a big part of the club’s evolution. Captaining during our 50th anniversary season was another proud moment for him.

100 games built on resilience, leadership and plenty of big performances.

Congrats Quinny 👏🖤🤍 Here’s to plenty more! 🏏

100 Games for Tore – Salvatore Lenzo 💙

This weekend we celebrate a great milestone as Salvatore “Tore” Lenzo brings up his 100th game for the club.

Tore joined us in the 2018/19 season after Shane Wilken dragged him across from indoor cricket and we haven’t looked back since!

With two well-established teams at the time and limited experience with bat and ball, Tore made a decision early on to make fielding his forte, and he’s done exactly that. His energy, commitment and pride in the field have become trademarks of his game and he’s set the standard with his effort week in, week out.

One personal highlight stands out, a memorable hat-trick but for Tore it’s never just been about individual moments.

What’s kept him at the club is what makes it a special place...the mateship, the competitiveness and the ability to have a great time with the boys, even on a 40+ degree day after a tough loss.

He’s been part of plenty of special moments too — sharing in the personal bests of teammates he started with and watching younger players hit their milestones along the way.

True to character, Tore says he’s “not good at these sort of questions” and just enjoys being around the people at the club. That humility and team-first attitude sum him up perfectly.

100 games is a fantastic achievement and a credit to his commitment and love for the club.

Congratulations Tore! We’re lucky to have you! 🖤🤍

150 Games for Rob – A True Club Champion 💙

This weekend we celebrate a special milestone as Rob takes the field for his 150th game against Darlington.

Rob joined the club in the 2013/14 season after being introduced through Phil Shaw, who he was working with outside the club at the time. What started as an introduction quickly turned into over a decade of extraordinary service and commitment.

Now in his 13th season at the club — with 11 of those spent on committee — Rob’s contribution both on and off the field has been immense:

Committee Roles:
• Secretary (2014/15)
• Vice President (2015/16)
• President (2016/17 – 2018/19), finishing with a Double Premiership in 2018/19
• Vice President (2019/20)
• President (2021/22 – 2024/25)
• Vice President (2025/26)

On-Field Achievements:
🏆 D Grade Premiership – 2018/19
🏆 Association D Grade Bowling Average – 2019/20 (26 wickets @ 9.35)
🏆 D Grade Bowling Winner – 2015/16
🎯 Hat-trick – 2018/19
🏅 3x Peter Sewell Clubman Award
🎖 Life Member – 2024

While the accolades are impressive, Rob’s proudest achievement is the role he played in helping transform the club’s culture into the family-friendly, community-focused environment it is today.

Rob is incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of his family throughout his journey. He is equally appreciative of the way the club community supported his family — especially during Jack’s initial diagnosis with a brain tumour. That mutual care and unity reflect the very culture Rob worked so hard to build.

150 games is a fantastic milestone but Rob’s true legacy is the impact he has had on this club and its people.

Congratulations Rob — player, leader, Life Member and true clubman 🖤🤍

Let’s get around him this weekend against Dianella 👏

🎉🏏 Past & Present Players Day – A Special Day for the Darlo Family 🏏🎉

What a fantastic afternoon at Ron Jose Oval last Saturday for our Past & Present Players Day, proudly supported by our great sponsors Northern Valleys Electrical, The Stirling Arms and Domino's Pizza Swan View. Thank you for helping make the day such a success!

We were delighted to welcome a wonderful turnout of past players back to the club. It was fantastic to see former Darlo cricketers reconnecting, meeting our current playing group, sharing stories from their playing days and reflecting on the moments that have shaped our club over the years.

The atmosphere around the ground was brilliant, with past and present united in support as the Darlo lads delivered a huge win against top-of-the-ladder City Beach. There’s nothing better than seeing generations of players standing side by side, cheering the club on.

In our club’s 51-year history, we are incredibly grateful to still have such a strong culture that connects our players past and present. Even more special is seeing how Darlington Cricket Club has grown into a truly family-friendly club, where lifelong friendships are formed and traditions continue to be passed down.

Days like this remind us what makes our club so special 🖤🤍

Thank you to everyone who came down and made it a day to remember.
