A cracking game of hurling was on display in Round 3 of the WA Senior Hurling League as we took on Western Swans in what proved to be a high scoring and hugely entertaining contest.

Thankfully, the result went our way, with some excellent shooting and finishing helping us secure a 2-29 to 4-15 victory and another valuable two points on the board.

Credit must go to both teams. To put up a scoreline like that, particularly when both sides possess some very solid defenders, is a testament to the quality, skill and work rate on display throughout the game. For spectators, it was a fantastic advertisement for WA hurling and showed the standard that is already being set at this early stage of the season.

From our perspective, we’re delighted with the performance. The intensity and effort from every player was outstanding, and once again we saw huge contributions right across our panel. Our substitutes especially Mark Kennedy made a massive impact when introduced and helped drive the team on when it mattered most.

Aaron Brennan deserves special mention after another outstanding display at wing forward. Shane Power was equally impressive at centre forward. While some of his best work won’t appear on the scoresheet, his movement, pressure and willingness to do the hard yards created space and scoring chances throughout the game for our inside forwards.

The standout performer on the field again though was Ronan Dunphy who produced another MOTM display in midfield. His energy and skill was instrumental in helping us gain control around the middle during key periods of the match.

Further back the field, our half back line was solid throughout led by Shane McNulty. Overall, it was a strong team performance, and we’re delighted to come away with the win.

Attention now turns to Round 4, where we face St.Gabriel’s. Preparations begin this week with training on Tuesday and Thursday as we look to build on a positive start to the league campaign. If you’re still on the fence drop us a DM there’s plenty of time to get involved before championship.

Round 2 of the WA Hurling Senior League saw us take on St Gabriel’s yesterday at RA Cook in a strong and hard fought battle, coming away with a valuable win on a scoreline of 2-25 to 2-17.

Credit to Gabriel’s, who were excellent in the first half and fully deserved their lead at the break with a physical and energetic display.

We settled into the game much better in the second half, and the return of Jack Lyons was evident from the minute he came onto the field, with Jack producing a brilliant second half display and scoring a quick succession of points. Adam Byrne also played a massive role in helping steady the ship and drove us forward in the second half to secure the win.

Our backs played very well once again especially in the second half once they came to terms with Gabriel’s movement, with Luke O’Brien outstanding throughout again at centre back and Shem Hayes solid as usual at full.

A special mention also to Aaron Brennan, who had a great game at wing forward, his work rate was brilliant throughout while also grabbing crucial scores when needed.

A good win and important points on the board after a tough contest. We now have a two week break before facing Western Swans in Round 3.

Thanks to everyone who came down to support the lads yesterday. We’re back training this Tuesday and Thursday at RA Cook 🔵🟡

Our league campaign got back underway with a tough opener against reigning champions Perth Shamrocks, who came away with a hard fought 1-20 to 1-17 victory.

It was a tight battle from start to finish, with both sides enjoying strong spells throughout the game. A brilliant late goal from Sam Lawless in the dying moments brought the game right down to the wire and set up a tense finish. In fairness to Shamrocks, they held firm and saw the game out to claim the win.

There’s plenty for us to work on, but overall it was a positive start to the year with a lot of encouraging signs across the pitch. Standout performances on the day came from Sarsfields players Ronan Dunphy, Paddy Delaney, and Luke O’Brien, who were immense throughout the contest.

We’re back training this Tuesday and Thursday in R.A. Cook Reserve as preparations begin for next weekends Round 2 against St. Gabriel’s 🔵🟡

The wait is nearly over as we get our 2026 campaign underway next Saturday, May 9th, with a tough opening clash against reigning champions Perth Shamrocks.

After a solid pre-season, the lads and management are ready to go and are hoping the work put in over the past few weeks will stand to us as the year unfolds. As always, competition in this league is fierce, and with the top two spots so crucial for a place in the league final and building momentum into the championship knockout stages, every game matters from the very start.

We’re excited to get going and can’t wait to be back out on the pitch.

We’ll keep everyone updated here with fixtures, results, and any changes throughout the season.

Training resumes tomorrow night at RA Cook Reserve, we’re still open to new players, so if you’re interested in getting involved, drop the page a DM. 🔵🟡👊🏻

We took part in the annual Tim Hickey Perth 7s tournament at Tom Bateman Reserve on Saturday just gone.

It was a fantastic day of hurling, with a high standard on display across all clubs and plenty of tight, competitive games throughout. We narrowly missed out in the final, going down by a single point to a strong Perth Shamrocks side, congratulations to them on a well-deserved win 👏🏻.

There’s a lot for us to take away from the day, and plenty to be excited about heading into the year. A strong start with great positives, and plenty more to come from this group.

We’re still welcoming new players, so if you’re keen to get involved, feel free to send us a DM for more information.

Training continues tonight and Thursday at RA Cooke Reserve 🔵🟡

🔵🟡☘️ Sarsfields St Patrick’s Day Celebrations ☘️🔵🟡

St Patrick’s Day is always a special time for Irish people around the world, a day to celebrate our culture, community and the friendships that make being away from home that little bit easier.

Sarsfields place huge value on the people associated with the club. With that in mind, we’re delighted to invite all members, new and old, along with their families, partners, friends and children, to join us for a Sarsfields Family & Friends Day this weekend.

With the St Patrick’s Day parade happening nearby, there will be a fantastic atmosphere around the city and plenty of entertainment for the kids throughout the day.

We will meet at Birdwood Square on Beaufort Street after the parade at approximately 1pm for a bit of Irish craic, good company and to celebrate St Patrick’s Day together.

If you have Sars club gear, be sure to wear it, and we hope to see everybody there for a great day of craic and celebration. ☘️

🔵🟡Sarsfields Hurling – Pearses 7s 2026🔵🟡

Best of luck to our lads heading down to Melbourne for the long-awaited Pearses 7s this weekend.

We kick things off against Sinn Féin of Melbourne at 08:30am before taking on Perth rivals Western Swans at 11:30am, and all going well we’ll be aiming to push on into the knockout stages in the afternoon.

The boys have put in serious work over the last few weeks and a big shoutout as well to the players who’ve been training hard to help prepare the squad, even if they’re not traveling, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and has made a massive difference 👊🏻 We’re buzzing to get down there now and represent the club with pride.

The 2026 Pearses 7s kit is looking absolutely unbelievable for this weekend’s games, another top-class design that the lads will be wearing proudly down in Melbourne.
