Our next Learn To Row program is well underway🤩 A number of parents of school rowers and a returnee to the water have been learning the mechanics of rowing a boat on the Mary River. Lots of laughs have been shared over a cuppa and morning tea nibbles as we reflect over the mornings adventures😄

State Masters 2026:
We have been a bit quiet of late with another bugging out of the shed due to rising flood waters. Only hip height this time around. FCRC removed the ramp to the pontoon as part of their plan to protect our precious infrastructure. Once that was returned a small group of Masters (aka the old people😉) made some attempts to prepare for RQ's State Masters event held this long weekend. Sadly we lost two of our regulars due to work commitments, but we picked up one of our recent LTR graduates, Max, and introduced him to the wonderful world of competitve rowing. Well what a weekend it was! We got to share the experience with our fellow rowers from South Kolan ( or Colon as was regularly heard across the speakers🤭). The conditions lived up to our expectations one day and were quite sublime the next. It only rained heavily once or twice😃 No tent was lost this year to the wind! Eating out was a pleasure.... except for trailer driver David Field who ate the most magical steak he had ever eaten..... and then stayed extremely close to a toilet the next day🫩 It was great seeing familiar faces and catching up on the trials and tribulations of other clubs. And, unexpectedly, we had some cracker results on the first day which saw Cameron Waterson buzzing around like a kid in a candy store with excitement. Jim Stafford got our highest ranked medal with a hard earned silver in his single🥈
Thanks to Rowing Queensland and all the volunteers who put in a massive effort to run the event. We will be back again💝

A bit of belated Christmas action from Wide Bay Rowing for 2025. After a Sunday morning session on the water, a Christmas breakfast was shared between junior and senior members. This was followed by our annual 'Stupid Things People Do' awards and the presentation of the FUOTY (F@ #% Up Of The Year). This year it was awarded to Simon Done who won by a landslide😃

B2B 2025 did not disappoint! A beautiful morning greeted our 15 crews who travelled from Townsville, Bundaberg, Sunny Coast and Brisbane to join us and experience the wonder of our nearly completed pontoon. And then we hit the water😳 Remember that year when we battled wind, white cap waves and tide🤔 Well, lets take all those elements and ADD ice cold rain and squalls which filled our boats with fresh as well as salt water🥶 So much for forecasted spring showers😳 Thank you so much to all our competitors for making the effort to share this occasion with us. It was lovely standing shoulder to shoulder in the shed after, bevvy in hand, as it poured and blew a gale outside. Note to the committee, let's build a bigger shed🤪
Thank you to our sponsers and supporters: Hyne Timber, Fraser Coast Council, Disaster Recovery Relief Funding, Queensland Government, Maryborough State High School, McDonalds Marybrough, Coffee Tribe, Topline Trophies, SportsFirst Hervey Bay, Handy Hire, Dave Alexander, our soggy boat volunteers, MSHS parents on and off the ramp/pontoon and Donna Macfie🥰 An event like this can't happen without you guys. Enjoy the photos and the memories and possibly the hypothermia that you went home with. Look forward to seeing you again in 2026🤗
