ELKC May Club Day -Junior Lights

Once again, No practice allowed….

No worries… just throw Cruz straight out for qualifying and hope for the best…

It was FREEZING this morning. The kind of cold that has you questioning life choices and wondering why standing around a race track before sunrise somehow became a hobby

With AKC lockout coming up, this was our last chance to test a few things, so Lincoln had a few ideas he wanted to try….

Safe to say it turned into a pretty good day. Cruz just kept finding pace, moving forward every session, learning a lot and even had a few “ahhhhhh so THAT’S what you’ve been trying to tell me”light bulb moments.

🏆 GREAT BARRIER REEF TITLES 2026 🏆

This year the event was switched to a one day format instead of the usual two days, with 11 quality drivers in Junior Lights ready to battle it out.

With a dead man final (first person over the line wins), plus qualifying and 4 heats, Cruz knew the smart play was to stay patient through the heats, bank points and save the big push for when it counted most.

Heat 1: P2
Heat 2: P2
Heat 3: P2
Heat 4: P1 (putting him on pole for the final)
🏆 Final: P1

A near perfect day from start to finish and awesome to see the hard work paying off again. Super proud of the maturity shown behind the wheel, racing smart when it mattered and getting the job done in the final.

Huge thanks to the Whitsundays club for putting on such a smooth, fun and well run event.

And of course, thanks to Kev for keeping us entertained all day… and to the family and friends who come to watch Cruz and cheer him on.
