This year is an incredibly special milestone as we celebrate the 10th Nyrie Contor Cup — ten years of rugby, community, remembrance and raising awareness & money for breast cancer research💗
💗 About the Nyrie Contor Cup
The Nyrie Contor Cup was created in 2017 to honour the life, strength and legacy of a much-loved Mackay mum, wife and passionate breast cancer advocate, Nyrie Contor.
After Nyrie tragically lost her battle with breast cancer in July 2017, the Mackay junior rugby community wanted to find a meaningful way to remember her and continue the work she was so passionate about — raising awareness of breast cancer and supporting Breast Cancer charity.
With the support of Nyrie’s husband, Wayde, an annual junior rugby carnival was transformed into the inaugural Nyrie Contor Cup.
What began as a tribute to one remarkable woman brought together 20 junior teams from across regional Queensland, with players, families and supporters gathering at Mackay’s Quarry Hill Rugby Union Ground.
Players proudly pulled on their pink socks, fundraising took place, and the rugby community stood together to honour Nyrie and her legacy.
Ten years later, that legacy continues. 💗
Through rugby, the Nyrie Contor Cup continues to carry Nyrie’s message forward — raising awareness, supporting Breast Cancer Charity and bringing people together in her memory.
