Hi Trail Lovers!

🐜🐜🐜🚧 Fire Ant Treatments 🚧🐜🐜🐜

We have received advice from Redland City Council that the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce (FAST) will be undertaking aerial fire ant suppression treatments in local parks next week.

The treatments will be occurring in the Bayview Conservation Area, Eastern Escarpment Conservation Area and the Ford Road Reserve (D&C Burnett area of Daisy Hill).

The treatments will be commencing from as early as Monday 8th June, but will more likely be 9th or 10th June. If there is any inclement weather between now and next week, these dates may be pushed back – further notifications will be made if this is the case.

The actual treatment itself will likely only take one day or a part day. The sites will be closed just before the treatment commences and will be reopened like normal once the treatment is complete and will be safe for usual use.

Saturday Social Ride - 06 June (Daisy Hill)

Winter is here and we are back at Daisy for and entry level ride again!

The meet point - the Duck Ponds (underwood park side).
Roll out is 7:00am – please arrive in time to login for the ride and head off on time.

This will be an entry level rider ride for riders new an experienced.

On Sunday, we wrapped up our Ladies' Introductory MTB Course with an awesome ride at Daisy Hill!

It’s been incredible to watch these women gain confidence, develop new skills, and embrace the fun of mountain biking. 🚵‍♀️✨

A massive thank you to Mark Watts from 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐌𝐓𝐁 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 for his expert guidance and support throughout the course, and to Ari for volunteering her time. Your encouragement has made a world of difference to each rider. 🙏🚵‍♀️

What a day at Underwood Park! 🚵‍♀️🚵‍♂️🎉

In partnership with RATS, Level 3 MTB Coach Bailey Meares hosted a fantastic Community Ride Day and Juniors Coaching session on Sunday, with around 30 riders of all ages coming along to ride, session features, learn new skills, and enjoy everything Underwood Park has to offer.

From newer to experienced riders, everyone had a blast exploring the trails, tackling many of the park’s newer features, and building confidence with Bailey’s guidance and encouragement along the way.

One of the things that makes Bailey such a great coach is his genuine passion for getting people on bikes, helping them progress, and most importantly, making sure they’re having fun out on the trails. The smiles, high-fives, and “just one more run!” moments throughout the day were proof of that.

This is just the beginning. RATS and Bailey are already talking about making future Community Ride Days even bigger and better, creating more opportunities for riders of all ages and abilities to get involved.

These rides are planned for the last Sunday of every month, but keep an eye out for RSVP details for the event.

The next LCTA-Cornubia TrailCare working bee is on THIS Saturday, 30th May at 2:00PM to 4:30PM.

With the weather being a bit dicey this week, please keep an eye out for any announcements on Friday evening should the working bee need to be cancelled.

Don't worry if you can't make it this weekend, we have scheduled working bees every second Saturday at 2PM. With the next scheduled working bee (after this weekend obviously) on Saturday 13th June.

This weekend we will complete the corridor marking and clearing for the extension of the Ginger Gully trail. Once that is complete, we can start with the actual trail building!! Check below image for meeting point and work location.

Come along, a few drinks and snacks will be supplied as well.

All tools will be provided.

The hens are gathering for 2026 — and we want YOUR help! 🐔

Chicks in the Sticks 2026 is happening at Scribbly Gums on 16 August, and this thing doesn't run itself.

First up — your Race Director this year is Michaela, and she's building her crew as we kick off race day planning.

At this stage, we're looking for: 🐣 Event planners and organisers

Want to get involved in building and running CITS from the ground up? We're looking for people to join the planning crew now. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm, a sense of humour and reliability.

Roosters are highly encouraged to join the crew!

CITS is one of the most fun days on the RATS calendar — costumes, colour chaos, and a bunch of chicks and chicklets shredding trails.

Being part of the crew that makes it happen is genuinely fun and rewarding.

We're thrilled to share that a group of amazing ladies embarked on their mountain biking journey with us by completing the first session of the Women’s Introductory Mountain Bike Course.

It was an absolute joy to watch these ladies dive into the world of mountain biking and discover the fun and excitement it has to offer. They learned the fundamental skills and laid the foundation for many exciting adventures ahead. Great work, ladies!
Next session, the group will be hitting the trails at Daisy Hill! 🚵‍♀️🌿

RATS Chicks Ride took off this afternoon from a busy Ford Rd carpark! Great to see the park so well used on that side.

A smallish group tackled a loop cleverly designed by our navigator-extraordinaire, with the hills nicely balanced by the fun downhill parts of Wiry Panic and various Grasstrees. We managed to loop in Ripleys and the Gliders, before a cruise back via Sleepy Hollow and a second run of the fun Summer Sprints timed downhill section.

Daisy was playing nicely - not too many puddles (and nowhere near enough to cause any damage), and some challenging exposed roots on uphills to test us all. So much fun!
