So proud of this amazing lady!! Not only is she my favourite person in the world, but yesterday she pitched her very first game! Nobody knows better than me how hard it is to just put the ball in the strike zone to allow the batters to hit the ball. It takes a lot of sucking up your ego and just keep swimming 🐟 Kylie did a great job just by never giving up. Thank you Saints for giving us a good fun game to help the process of training a new pitcher 💖

Just some of the work that goes on in the background to make everything better for players and spectators.

New seating has been finished in the grandstand on diamond 1.

For those who want to hang around after your game, there is A2 & A1 games on at 2:30pm, 4:30pm & 6:30pm today.

So, this happened yesterday......

OUR GRANDSTAND GOT COMPLETED!!!!!

After many weeks of hard work & long hours at Downey Park, all our grandstand seats are finally in place.

This is all thanks to Denise Covill, Sharon Covill, Phillip Di Savia and Moe Kurihara.

This was a complex restoration, but they were determined to have the seats in place for tomorrow's SQ SSS Final.

I'm sure everyone using the grandstand will appreciate sitting in comfortable and safe seats for many years to come. The BSA Board definitely appreciates the efforts gone into this project.

We do ask that people respect the new seats by using them for their designed purpose and refrain from using them as stepping stones, kicking them or swinging the back.

Well, today saw our first game of the season, and what a game it was.

Firstly, welcome back to our previous players, and a massive welcome to our new additions.

While the final score of todays game wasn’t what we hoped for, there was definitely some promise for the rest of the season, with some great batting and of course, some good giggles!!!

Let’s start off with a quick mention of Nat, who started off with her first ever game pitching. Only two batters walked, but luckily, only one of those turned into a nudie run! However she made up for it with not one, but two home runs!!!!

Then it was time to see what one of our newbie, Angela, had up her sleeve, and she was put on the mound for a pitch. Well, we’ve found a new pitcher for the team, and she also pulled off some good turns at bat. Can maybe see a bit of cricket in there, but whatever works!!! Just gotta teach some of the rules!!!

Some great (and entertaining) fielding, with some catches by Kathy, Vicki, Gael and Dani, and Janine picked up an awesome ball in right field (I think she decided - stop it or I have to chase it).

Play of the day has to go to Nat (definitely her day today), who fielded the ball while playing shortstop, wasn’t sure where the player was who was going to second, spun around, tagged Bern, who was playing second base, spun again before touching the base to take the out. Very entertaining Nat, thank you.

We came out with the loss, but being the first game of the season, we’ve left room for improvement (not sure how Nat will beat her two home runs & dancing tag play at second)!

Looking forward to more entertainment next week!!!

First game of the season tomorrow for our C grade ladies.

Game at 4:30pm on diamond 9. Keep an eye out for those who make a look a little lost as it’s the first day for some of our newbies.

Time for some new friendships and some more giggles!

To all of my friends and family, this guy (Robert) is a genuine nice guy to work for. Yes, I worked for him in another lifetime and he was amongst the best bosses I have worked for. If you know someone who may be interested in this position, tell them not to think twice. Rob will take great care of any employee that works hard and shows up.

END OF SEASON

So, the summer season has come to and end, once again.

While unfortunately our C grade ladies didn’t make finals, yesterday saw the weather gods on our side, with our A and B grade teams take to diamond 2 in search of Grand Final trophies!! And by chance, both grades were out hunting Panthers!!

First update our A grade were off to a good start and continued with a solid performance. Some great hits, solid fielding and team spirit. There was some down in the dirt plays in run downs, gut slides and a minor dirty mishap at third (you all know who you are)!! The ladies came off with a 8-5 win, bringing home the trophy for the second year running!!🏆🏆

And we didn’t finish there. Voted by the umpires, Tayla won the player of the match for the Grand Final!! 🏅🏅

Next up, B grade. A slightly slower start and the opposition took advantage. There were some great hits, but unfortunately the balls were magnetised to players!! The ladies kept their heads held high with a score of 8-3. 🎉🎉

Last night saw the final party of the season with presentation night. BBQ, salad, cheesecake and of course some refreshing liquids and story telling.

What a day at the park.

A3 had to play semi finals at midday, but unfortunately weren’t the better team on the day, but had a second chance with prelims at 4pm.

B1 played while A3 gathered their thoughts. B1 played their hearts out and came off with a fantastic win!!

A3 came back out at 4pm and pulled off close win!!

Massive team effort for both teams with a week off before Grand Finals on 11th of March.

Mark the date in your calendars and come and cheer on the best looking club on the park!!!
