Teams Ambassador - Darlene Jacques

"I grew up in Sulphur Creek and went to Penguin High School, where I discovered my love of cross-country events.

I’m a mum to three adult children and a very proud Granny to 11 grandchildren. ❤️

I started running in 2016 at the age of 47 when I turned up to Devonport Parkrun — and I haven’t looked back since!

I’ve now completed four marathons, with my most recent being the Coastal Pathway Marathon in 2025.

One of my favourite running memories was in May this year when I was lucky enough to run alongside my son, Matty, as he completed his first half marathon in Adelaide. It’s something I will always cherish. ❤️

When I’m not running, I love relaxing at our beach house at Beaumaris on Tasmania’s East Coast.

What I love most about running is helping others achieve their own goals — whether that’s pacing someone to a PB, encouraging them through a tough section or simply being there to support them at an event.

After taking part in the inaugural Coastal Pathway event in 2025, I can honestly say the atmosphere along the pathway was amazing. I’d encourage everyone to get involved and experience it for themselves.

We have one of the best running courses, with some of the best scenery you’ll find anywhere. 🌊🏃‍♀️ "

And finally, my fun fact?

I don’t know how to slow down — either in life or in running! 😂

So enjoy the journey, make the most of every opportunity and live life to the fullest. ❤️

Next up our male marathon ambassador is Julian | Trail & Ultra Running

Let's learn more about Julian.

"Hi, I’m Julian Brown from Tasmania. I’m an everyday runner who discovered that running has the power to change far more than just fitness—it builds confidence, resilience and connection. What started as a way to challenge myself has grown into a passion for encouraging others to chase goals they once thought were impossible.

I’ve completed my first 100 km ultramarathon and I’m currently preparing for an ambitious run around Tasmania to encourage conversations around mental health and show that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things with persistence and belief. I love that running brings together people from all walks of life, regardless of pace or experience, and creates a community where everyone belongs.

I applied to become a Coastal Pathway Ultra Ambassador because I believe the best part of our sport is inspiring others to give things a go. I’m looking forward to meeting fellow runners, supporting participants throughout the event, and helping showcase the welcoming community that makes this event so special. "

Fun fact: Outside of running, I run a property maintenance business and I’m always planning my next big adventure. I’ve also played lawn bowls most of my life

Our next Ambassador is Tamara Sallese

She will be lining up in her debut marathon and recently completed her longest run ever ( 30km )

" Hi, I’m Tamara, a 34-year-old mum of two beautiful boys, Ollie (3) and Archie (1). My husband and I are raising our family on Tasmania’s beautiful northwest coast, where we both grew up.

Running has always been part of my life, but it wasn’t until after becoming a mum that I truly found my passion for it. Last year, I completed my first half marathon at Coastal, just seven months postpartum.

This year, I’m returning to make my marathon debut—a goal I never thought was possible for me!

What I love most about running is that it isn’t about being the fastest; it’s about showing up, backing yourself, and enjoying the journey. Every runner has a story and I hope mine encourages someone else to take that first step or chase a goal they never thought possible. I feel incredibly humbled to be an ambassador and I can’t wait to cheer everyone on and be part of this truly unique community event. Seeing my boys at the finish line will be the cherry on top!

When I’m not road running, you’ll find me on the trails with my Wild Girls crew, volunteering at Devonport Parkrun, spending time with my family and our dog Marli or enjoying a good coffee and a great book.”

Good luck in the marathon, Tamara 🥳 🎉 🪅
