🧡FQPL3 WOMEN | KAPPA CUP RESULTS ⚽️

On Wednesday night, our FQPL3 Women travelled south for a crack at NPL opposition Gold Coast United in their Round 5 Kappa Cup clash 🔥

With nothing to lose & everything to gain, the girls were excited for the challenge & determined to give a strong account of themselves against one of the competition's strong sides.

Gold Coast United opened the scoring with an early chipped finish before adding a second through a well-worked attacking move. Despite the scoreline, Musgrave continued to compete hard & created several promising opportunities of their own, either finding the target & forcing a save or going agonisingly close.

United's third goal came via a deflected ball that Musgrave were unable to flick away, sending the teams into the halftime break with the score at 3-0.

The second half told a different story.

The Mustang girls came out with renewed energy & determination, throwing themselves into every challenge & refusing to take a backward step. Defensively, the side stood strong & proved incredibly difficult to break down, while on the counterattack they continued to create opportunities & ask questions of the United defence.

While a goal ultimately proved elusive, the girls were unlucky not to find the back of the net after several positive attacking moments. Just as importantly, they held a quality NPL outfit scoreless throughout the entire second half - a credit to their work rate, organisation & commitment.

The match finished 3-0, bringing an end to a great Kappa Cup campaign.

🏅 Player of the Match: Jayde Lowe
Jayde was outstanding in the middle of the park, leading through her vocal leadership, incredible skill & relentless work rate to help drive the team forward & set the standard against quality opposition 💪

This group should be proud of what they have achieved throughout the competition. To progress & earn the opportunity to test themselves against NPL opposition is a reflection of the quality, character & bond within this squad. The pride they show every time they pull on the Musgrave colours was on full display throughout this cup journey

Congratulations, ladies. The future is bright🧡

🧡⚽️ FQPL3 MEN RESULTS ⚽️🧡

Our FQPL3 Men hosted a reversed fixture against Mudgeeraba on Saturday afternoon after wet weather impacted the original venue 🌧️

Against a quality Mudgeeraba outfit, the First Team knew they were in for a tough challenge. While the result didn't fall our way in a 3-0 defeat, there were still plenty of positives to take from the performance as the boys continued to compete strongly and create opportunities against one of the competition's stronger sides.

🏅 Player of the Match: Joshua Taylor

Our U23s then took to the field against a top of the ladder team and produced a determined performance to come away with a valuable point.

Mudgeeraba opened the scoring early, but midway through the first half a quick counterattack saw Oscar deliver a perfectly weighted through ball to Mark, who used his pace and composure to finish clinically and bring Musgrave level. The sides went into the break locked at 1-1.

Despite both teams creating attacking opportunities throughout the second half, strong defensive efforts at either end ensured the score remained unchanged, with the Mustangs earning a hard-fought point against top-of-the-table opposition 💪🐎

🏅 Players of the Match: Thomas Lee & Jamie Timms
👏 Debut: Jack Shaw

Well done to both teams on their efforts against a strong opponent 🧡

🧡⚽️ FQPL3 WOMEN RESULTS ⚽️🧡

Our FQPL3 Women travelled to Lex Bell Oval on Friday night for their Round 10 clash with Surfers Paradise after the fixture was reversed due to field conditions 🌧️

Despite recent weather interruptions and limited training opportunities, the girls were determined to come out strong and produced some quality football throughout the night. Musgrave showed plenty of class in possession, creating several promising attacking movements and building play well from the back.

Surfers struck first from a corner before a breakthrough under heavy pressure led to their second goal of the evening. Rather than dropping their heads, the Mustang girls responded brilliantly. A smart ball from Belle into a dangerous area found Bailie, who lunged to get the final touch and pull one back before the halftime break ⚽️🧡

The second half saw Musgrave enjoy plenty of possession and continue to create opportunities through some impressive build-up play. While the girls pushed hard for an equaliser, they were unable to find the back of the net again, with the match finishing 2-1 in favour of Surfers Paradise.

A tough result to take given the effort and quality shown throughout the contest, but one that will only add fuel to the fire when these sides meet again later in the season 💪🐎

🏅 Player of the Match: Joni Nedeljak

Well done, ladies 🧡
