Looks simple… but this exercise is working both legs in very different ways. 🔥

Jen is performing leg and footwork on the Reformer, but with a twist — one foot is on the footbar while the other is balancing on a ball.

The leg on the footbar has to generate the power, control the carriage, and work incredibly hard through the glutes, hamstrings, and quads.

Meanwhile, the leg on the ball is dealing with an unstable surface, forcing the smaller stabilising muscles to switch on and work overtime to maintain alignment and control.

The result? Both legs are working hard, but each is being challenged in a completely different way.

This is one of the reasons we love Pilates. By making small changes to an exercise, we can challenge strength, balance, stability, coordination, and body awareness all at once.

Jen makes it look easy… but trust us, this one burns! 🔥

Glutes!!!

03/06/2026

Here, Andrew is working on a glute-focused exercise using the Reformer and Cadillac. This setup is fantastic because it helps isolate the glutes and minimises the body’s ability to compensate by recruiting other muscle groups.

When Andrew first started, there was very little glute activation. Through careful coaching, correct positioning, and consistent practice, we’ve been able to wake those muscles up and get them working the way they’re designed to.

Strong, functioning glutes play an important role in supporting the pelvis, improving posture, protecting the lower back, and creating more efficient movement patterns in everyday life.

At Bespoke Pilates, we’re not just exercising—we’re teaching the body to move better.

Well done, Andrew! 👏

Meet Sarah and Andrew 💙

One of the things I love most about Pilates is that no two bodies are the same, and no two sessions should be either.

Sarah is recovering from a back injury, so our focus is on helping her move safely and confidently without aggravating her symptoms. Today, we used a ball under her back and another under her feet and heels to provide support where needed, allowing her to focus on activating her pelvic floor and deep core muscles while maintaining her own stability and control.

Andrew’s goals are quite different. He’s been working hard to build strength and improve his overall movement and control. Today, we introduced the Magic Circle to challenge him a little further while helping him maintain good alignment throughout his exercises.

Same session. Different goals. Different exercises. Different support.

That’s the beauty of semi-private Pilates. Each person receives a programme designed around what their body needs, while still enjoying the motivation and camaraderie of working alongside someone else.

It’s not about everyone doing the same thing. It’s about everyone getting exactly what they need. ✨

A semi-private session means I can work with two clients on their individual needs, while making sure they both stay comfortable and pain-free 🤍

Andrew is ready to advance and increase his level of challenge, while Sarah is focused on maintaining her progress and continuing to move safely with her injury.

In a semi-private setting, I can tailor each exercise to suit them both—progressing where needed, supporting where required, and always keeping a close, attentive eye on their movement.

It’s personalised, focused, and designed to meet each client exactly where they are ✨

Mat classes are capped at just 6 people—but that’s still 6 bodies, 6 movement patterns, and 6 sets of needs to consider.

If you’re dealing with things like lower back pain, pelvic floor weakness, or shoulder or knee issues, a standard mat class might not give you the level of attention your body really needs.

But I also understand that private sessions aren’t always accessible for everyone—and that’s exactly where semi-private sessions come in.

Semi-private is essentially a shared private session with one other person, meaning the cost is shared too. I carefully match clients based on posture and level so the classes run smoothly, and you still receive targeted, individualised support.

It’s the perfect middle ground—more personalised than a group class, but more affordable than going it alone.

If your body needs a little extra care, this could be exactly what you’ve been looking for 🤍
