Good night and thanks for the hoops.

While our customers saw a lot of us, they didn’t see that much of the real engine room: our amazing wives who supported, encouraged, cheered and put up with us along this amazing journey.

We are excited about Swisherr 2.0 and the new opportunities we can provide for the basketball community.

And we are deeply grateful to Kristy, Belinda and Larissa for all they did along the way.

Tonight we - just the six of us - took the opportunity to say farewell to shed with a couple of champagnes and a pizza.

🏀 BIG NEWS FOR TASMANIAN BASKETBALL 🏀

Swisherr Hoops Academy is excited to announce a new partnership with the University of Tasmania and Elizabeth College, creating a new high-performance pathway for athletes committed to reaching their full potential.

To launch the partnership, Head Coach Anthony Stewart has developed the exclusive Platinum Academy — a program designed to give athletes a true understanding of the work ethic, discipline, and commitment required to pursue elite basketball opportunities.

🔥 The Platinum Academy is for athletes serious about a “Pathway to Pro” and provides a challenging, high-performance environment focused on long-term development.

Athletes in the program will gain access to:
✅ NBA-style fitness testing
✅ Strength & conditioning programs
✅ Structured weekly athlete schedules
✅ Skill development sessions
✅ Educational support opportunities
✅ Employment pathway opportunities
✅ Professional athlete standards & expectations

⛹️‍♂️ Open to athletes from U12s and above who are motivated to push themselves and grow both on and off the court.

Applications will be required for entry into the program, with limited positions available.

The Platinum Academy will also serve as the foundation for the upcoming Swisherr Academy Program launching in June 2026. 🚀

Swisherr Hoops Academy is currently working alongside tournament directors to take selected teams to the 15th Asia Pacific Cup in Singapore from 19–25 October 2026! ✈️🏀

We’ll be selecting U16 & U18 athletes (Men’s & Women’s Teams) to proudly represent Swisherr internationally, departing Melbourne on 18 October and returning 26 October 2026.

Now that the dust has settled and we get organised to move out of the shed that has given us so many great times, great friends and great memories... just a note from us to you to say thank you.

We set out to provide more facilities and pathways for young Tasmanians who love their hoops. Together, with you all, we built a community and many communities within that community.

We never really expected the impact Swisherr would have and we have been inundated with messages of warmth and gratitude. Each one of them we have read and shared with each other with tears in our eyes.

(You know who you all are but Alice Cowley... wow!)

While the shed is gone, and it will never be the same again, Swisherr will press on running programs and tours - albeit on a smaller basis in different courts and settings.

Right now though we feel enormous pride for what we - together with you - have built and enormous gratitude for all of your support and love along the way.

We also want to thank our staff - around 50-60 casual staffers over the journey - who have worked hard, lived the culture, and supported our customers. To Brooke, Hollie, Belinda and JB who went above and beyond as staffers a BIG thank you.

The three of us have done a few things in our lives, from winning national championships to doing some of the big jobs, but we are all agreed we are as proud of what we built at Swisherr as anything each of us have achieved in our lives.

We most hope the young people - who we have been surrounded with - go on and succeed not just in their basketball, but in their learning, working and lives.

Love life. Shoot more hoops.

We’re excited to see our girl Hollie Nash suit up Saturday night. It’s going to be a fantastic night celebrating this great club and it’s 30 year history. Let’s gooooo Chargers.
