This Father’s Day, here’s something worth remembering:
Looking after your health isn’t only about living longer.
It’s about being able to participate in the life happening around you.
Getting onto the floor with your children—and back up again.
Kicking the footy.
Going camping.
Helping them move house one day.
Being present, capable and involved as they grow older.
As dads, it’s easy to say we’re too busy providing for everyone else to spend any time looking after ourselves.
I’ve used that excuse too.
But caring for your health isn’t time taken away from your family.
It’s an investment in the years and experiences you hope to share with them.
You don’t need to become a professional athlete.
Walk. Lift something. Play. Find movement you enjoy and allow your children to see you making your health matter.
Happy Father’s Day to the dads, stepdads, grandfathers and father figures across Gunnedah.
