Last weekend marked the start of the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships (Aussies) …….. 💪 the biggest surf lifesaving event in the country, bringing together more than 7,000 competitors from clubs across Australia.

It was a special weekend for our Nippers, as the youth divisions (U13–U15) took to the beach and water. For many of our athletes, this was their very first Aussies , with U13 being the youngest age group eligible to compete at this incredible event.

We are incredibly proud of our U13–U15 team. They showed determination, courage, and great sportsmanship throughout the competition, both on the sand and in the surf.

These kids can run.
They can swim.
They can paddle.
And they can Iron.

From beach sprints to board paddling and the demanding Iron events, they gave it everything they had and represented our club with pride.

Nippers are truly something special. Not just at our club, but across the entire coast. These young athletes are strong, resilient, full of energy, and incredibly inspiring to watch.

We are so proud of every single one of them and can’t wait to see them back on the sand at the next Aussies. What an amazing experience watching some of the fittest and toughest young athletes on the coast give it their all.

The next chapter of Aussies begins on Wednesday as the U16 and above competitors take to the water and sand. Good luck to all of them!

Presentation Day

Yesterday marked the final Nippers day of the season, finishing with our Presentation Day. It was wonderful to see all our Nippers, from Under 6 through to Under 14, and to celebrate their efforts throughout the season.

Watching the kids grow, gain confidence, and become stronger individuals has been truly special. A big congratulations to our Under 13s as they move on to the next stage and become Mentors next season – an exciting new journey ahead!

This season brought plenty of unexpected conditions and challenges, but together we made the best out of everything. Every Nippers day and every competition was filled with teamwork, fun, and great memories.

A huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers and parents who stepped up throughout the season. From water safety, registrations, officials, and admin work, to all the behind-the-scenes jobs like the canteen and paperwork!!! your time and effort make the whole program possible. We are truly grateful for everything you do for our Nippers.

Although the Nippers season has wrapped up, there is still more happening! Pool Rescue training is coming up, and Aussies are next week on the Gold Coast. If you are around, please come down and cheer on the Dicky Beach crew!

For kids aged 10 and above who are swimmer, please keep an eye on TeamApp and our socials, as Pool Rescue will be starting soon. It’s a great chance to learn new skills, gain experience, and enjoy training with a different crew.

Day 1 at State Championships 2026 💛🖤

What a great way to kick off the weekend!

Our Dicky Beach Nippers had so much fun out there today in the 1km and 2km beach runs. Big smiles, great energy and a fantastic start to the Championships.

We’re loving the atmosphere and can’t wait for Day 2 and the rest of the weekend ahead.

A big thank you to our coach Cinnamon, our wonderful age Manager Katie J, and all our lovely parents for taking such great care of the kids and capturing beautiful moments for the club.

It’s GO time!! 💪

We are incredibly proud to be sending 64 competitors to the U11-U15 Youth State Titles this weekend at Maroochydore, including two of our Pippies competing in the Adaptive Events. 👏

These young athletes are about to go head-to-head with the very best in Queensland, and we couldn’t be more excited to see them represent Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club with pride, teamwork and determination.

Last Saturday we held our State Lunch at our home club for our U11 to U15 State qualifiers.

It was so special to see them proudly wearing their Dicky Beach SLSC State gear.

Wishing all of our Nippers the very best as the State Championships kick off tomorrow and run through Sunday. We are so proud of each and every one of you.
