Swipe to the end ➡️➡️➡️ to see what’s being tested currently on the enduro rig.

Trail+ are immaculate when it comes to MTB detailing and maintenance… and putting up with this rider’s wacky requests. So when - post Tas/NZ mission - i seriously contemplated a cockpit overhaul for some additional descending gains, this setup came through:

Chromag Clutch grips - more spacious, more durable, still secure & grippy.

One Up Components widthx35 rise bars - cut to 740mm, plus a 42mm stem. Radic Kaha brakes can literally make full use of bar real-estate now… one of the ergonomic goals i’ve been trying to achieve. Matched with new Chromag stem spacers… this gives a full extra inch of bar height over my previous slammed cockpit.

Rebuilt wheels - swapped the We Are One rim front and back, secure 3-cross lacing, new spokes + ni***es. That special Trail+ touch in a super-reliable build.

That fork (grateful to Tionghin ) is also pretty nifty… but apart from that being put through its paces, the other thing under evaluation is an interesting pair of bar-ends the cockpit seems to have sprouted...

More on these ‘Mickey Mouse ears’ in a later post!

Huge thanks to Irvin and team for fixing this up.

Troy Lee Designs Stage Stunt helmet: A true 3/4 lid. Comfy + feature-filled.

MIPS-liner integration, custom fit padding, heaps of venting = safe, stable, and airy! Solid enough as a POV filming platform* whilst feeling as cool & light as a half-shell. Went for stealth camo vibes for that understated look.

Kinda like if the OG Stage and the A3 (both of which I ride extensively with) had a baby 👶🏻

Check out this newie 🪖 and the entire TLD line of helmets - plus much more MTB bits/gear - at Unsprung 🙏🏼🙏🏼

*the upcoming course preview POV video is 100% shot using this helmet.

A timely article with the local mainstream media’s perspective on adventure tourism and its evolution in the Singaporean context.

Operating overseas guided trips for a very niche activity - mountain biking - means more than just figuring out the ‘next cool place’ to go shred trails for Raw Epics.

It means spending the time and sweat equity to be professionally trained and certified as a MTB skills instructor, wilderness first aider / responder - and clocking the necessary mileage beyond the classroom, training infrastructure, or certificates.

It means collaborating only with trusted, legitimate in-country service providers; and operating in trail centers & bike parks with high standards of guidance, safety, maintenance, and contingency response.

It means coming up with bespoke services with a true client-first approach: actual knowledge of the trails, curated & adaptable itineraries, in-Singapore pre-trip riding skills training, equipment checks/tuning, being fully equipped for foul weather/mechanical incidents/medical emergencies, and working with qualified/professional local vendors.

It sometimes also means leaving money on the table and refusing to ‘make a buck’… better to go as my own holiday-maker in certain areas and under certain circumstances than try to ‘skim’.

We are proud of what Raw Epics represents today for exploration-minded mountain bikers based in Singapore who are itching to shred trails overseas!

With growing demand for adventure travel, CNA explores why some people want to embark on a vacation which puts them at risk of injury or death.

Paying dues to the trail-gods. This Skyline loamer hugey wrapped up my trip to Queenstown 🇳🇿. Shout-out to full-face helmet and protection (knee pads, elbow pads, spine/chest protector) for working as intended.

Sent this clip to … fingers crossed 🤞🏼 it gets featured.

Had a blast visiting DHaRCO HQ, catching up with the staff here, and going for a little dawn rip around their local: Narra Hill, Garigal - NSW 🇦🇺.

Some tricky terrain and quite an interesting morning… warmly hosted by Diego, Mathieu, and Chris! Afterwards it was bike-wash time and checking out the amazing product range available at their full shop-floor - including other MTB brands such as Shimano, Yeti, Smith, Deity, and Amflow.

Also rode wearing DHaRCO’s Enduro Bib Shorts for the first time: an innovative e product that combines long-range riding comfort, small-item carrying capacity, and full length spinal protection. 10/10 would recommend for folks who wanna ditch their backpacks and waist pouches - yet still remain safe and confident shredding the gnar all day.

Raw Epics recently worked on the 3rd Pokharaenduro event, a MTB enduro race. Here is the race report on Pinkbike by event director Sunil Chandra Sharma. Congratulations for pulling off another stoke-filled “race-cation” in the adventure capital of Nepal!
