June (Makuru) Rally ☀️🥶

Makuru is traditionally the coldest and wettest time of year! However, a frosty morning made way for a sun-filled day for our June Rally- how lucky are we?!

A huge day, with 24 riding members soaking up the amazing knowledge across our coaching team of Kate, Sarah, Meranda, Emily and (Me) - huge gratitude to our coaches who dedicate time, planning and a whole lotta energy to our plight! 🥰

Today was extra special as we hosted Denise Legge & Ferne Faulkner assessing 5 (3 Albany PC& 2 Denmark) Great Southern riders for their C Certificate proficiency. We are thrilled to announce that all (5) riders passed their certificate assessments. But a special mention to Isabelle and Maya who have diligently prepared for this all year- congratulations! We’re so proud of you.

- Theresa for a fantastic canteen
And all of our merry helpers who make the day go so smoothly!

We were also pleased to be able to present both Lani and Charlize with their D Certificates and Badges today- well done again 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Our July rally is co-hosted by Kojonup Pony Club for an Eventing themed rally at their wonderful grounds (Wandecla). Details will be emailed shortly 🤩

2026 GSZ Show Jump Officials Workshop

12th and 13th September
West Plantagenet Pony Club

We are excited to welcome Judy Rose and Fred Freeman, both highly qualified and experienced Show Jumping Course Designers and Judges. Across the two days, participants will cover theory for judging and course building, with opportunities for assessments to be completed if required.

This workshop is suitable for:
🔹 Members wanting to gain knowledge about show jumping
🔹 Members interested in the changes filtering down from EA regarding SJ classes
🔹 Parents looking to better support their children
🔹 Coaches and officials wishing to expand and update their knowledge
🔹 Members interested in becoming a Show Jumping Judge or Course Designer
🔹 Officials looking to update and maintain their qualifications

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, share knowledge, and further develop our Show Jump officials within the Great Southern community.

We are excited to welcome Deb Spencer as the lead presenter for the day. The workshop program will cover a wide range of topics including arena lessons, trail ride preparation, groundwork, lesson planning and much more.

This workshop is suitable for:
🐴 Members wanting to gain knowledge
🐴 Parents looking for lesson ideas and inspiration to better support their children
🐴 Coaches and instructors wishing to expand their skills and teaching approaches

It will be a fantastic opportunity to learn new ideas, share knowledge, and further develop coaching and horsemanship skills within our Great Southern community.

Today we finally kicked off our 2026 Combined Training Highpoint Competition Series after Cyclone Narelle caused us to cancel our March date. Today we were blessed with beautiful Autumn sunshine and didn’t the grounds look super after last week’s busy bee! ☀️
A big thank you to Heather Carrington—Jones for judging the dressage and to Stephen Johnson for designing and building the showjumping course. Thank you to Barb Cook for judging the showjumping.
Thank you to the riders for supporting our event and to the helpers for jumping in and helping the day run smoothly. To the Denmark PC Committee and members, thank you for all your contributions to the running of this event.

🧁Cake Donations🧁

Just a reminder to all of our members (even if not competing) if you can drop off a cake/treat donation for the Combined Training competition that is being held this Sunday - the cakes/treats are sold as a fundraiser for the club ✨

They can be dropped off at 2pm this Saturday or in the morning this Sunday. If you can't make it this weekend and would still like to contribute you can bank transfer and we can purchase some goodies on your behalf.

Attending any State Championships is a huge effort. Hours of training, preparation, packing and checking! But they are always worth it! The camaraderie, connection and exposure are beneficial as young riders craft and hone their skills.
This weekend was no exception for Lily! Her first State Championships and a place in every class as well as our Gt Southern Zone coming second in the zone championship! 🤩
Well done Lily and Tiny (and Uber Groom Sonya)! We’re so proud for the team 🥰
