🏌️ 2026 Men's Pennants Season – Round 1 VS Indooroopilly @ Home
Overall, we came away with a halved match, 10½ to 10½ points each. Our junior team recorded a 3–2 victory, with wins to Matthys, Zac and Jakob. Peyton staged a great fightback from three down to take his match to the 18th hole, only to see a putt from off the green win the match for Indooroopilly.
The Masters team went down 3–2, with wins to Tony Rendel and Stewart Burns. Brad Anderson was locked in a hard-fought battle all day and arrived at the 18th hole one down. After a solid par on the 17th by Brad (his final hole), his opponent left his first putt well short of the hole. However, the putt just had enough momentum to fall into the cup, giving Indooroopilly the match. It was a great fight by Brad, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.
With the juniors winning and the Masters losing, the overall score was locked at five matches each. The result would be decided by the Open team. With 10 matches completed, Indooroopilly held a narrow 5½–4½ lead, leaving the final match on the course in the hands of Jed Young, playing at number two for the Open team.
Jed was three down as he walked onto the 12th tee. However, by the time he had completed the 16th hole, the match was back to all square with two holes to play. Jed went one up on the 17th, leaving the 18th to decide both the match and the overall result. Both players had birdie opportunities on the final hole. Jed putted first and shaved the edge of the hole, settling for a par. The Indooroopilly player then had a chance to win the hole with his birdie putt but overread the break, missing on the high side. Jed completed the fightback of the day to win the match 1 up, allowing the Open team to finish with a 5½–5½ tie against Indooroopilly.
The standout performances of the day came from Matthys Visser, playing at number one in the junior team, who recorded a dominant 8 and 6 victory. Matt Skinner, playing at number three in the Open team, also produced a commanding 6 and 5 win after getting off to a strong start. Jakob Ryan, playing at number five in the junior team, added another impressive result with a 4 and 3 victory.
