Congratulations to all of our members heading north to Cairns this week.
It’s a race we Queenslanders love—tropical scenery, incredible community support, water visibility that can politely be described as “variable”, and a run course where the cheers seem to get louder with every passing hour.
A big shout out to our Aquabikers (Renee Reynolds, Mick Rand & Felicity Harpley) 70.3 athletes (Wendy Holt & Shaun Sutton) and Ironman (Theo Stein) . If you’re lining up for Cairns slide onto the DMs so we can track and cheer! We wish you calm seas, cool conditions, minimal headwinds (although we all know the final 30km may have other ideas), and most importantly, a day that allows you to demonstrate the work you’ve put in.
Trust your training, race with confidence, and enjoy every moment of one of Australia’s great triathlons.
We’re cheering for you all.

One of the things we love most about our club is that people build fitness here and then use it in different ways — for travel, adventure, personal challenges, joy, and yes, occasionally the odd Ironman.
In this week’s member spotlight we’re celebrating three athletes who quietly go about their business, each making our community stronger in their own way.
Sarah Pye is a fierce competitor wrapped in a calm and unassuming exterior. Whether it’s triathlon or, more recently, road racing, she consistently shows how it’s done. Sarah lets her actions do the talking, and from where we’re standing, this young athlete is very much on the rise.
Theo Stein is ready to rumble at Ironman Cairns. With an impressive racing résumé already behind him, we’re excited to see what race day brings. Like many great competitors, Theo combines a quiet, good-natured personality with a genuine love of racing. Good luck, Theo — we can’t wait to watch it unfold.
And finally, Julianne. Uber cyclist, Lantern Rouge leader, and one of the people who helps make our club what it is.
Why did she volunteer to lead Lantern Rouge rides?
“If I can help someone fall in love with cycling and feel safe on a bike, I would feel blessed.”
That simple sentiment captures the spirit of our club perfectly.
To Sarah, Theo and Julianne — thank you for quietly showing us what commitment, generosity and community look like. To all of our kind-hearted warriors who give their time, knowledge and encouragement to others, thank you for helping people feel safe, supported and proud to be part of this club.

We’ve been working hard to create supportive cycling pathways for all our riders, from beginners building confidence on the bike through to more experienced cyclists 🚴‍♀️🤩🚴

The Lanterne Rouge group has become such a great addition to our Saturday ride options and a fantastic way for members to gradually build confidence and fitness on the bike. It’s also a really supportive pathway back for anyone returning from injury or time away from riding 🤘

☕ No drop
🚴‍♂️ Steady, friendly pace
📍 Shorter route 30–40km
🧭 Meet at 6am during winter @ Noosa Lions Park, Noosa Pde (meet in the car park)
👋 All welcome

Every Saturday, 6am, rolling out after the main group with a ride leader.

Huge shout out to our Lanterne Rouge leaders 🏮🙌🏮

Stay tuned… we’ve got some cool new cycling pathways coming soon 💫

🏃🚴🏃 HILLY DUATHLON — SUNDAY 14 JUNE
Want to stay race ready? This one is for you.
Our Hilly Duathlon is all about practising the things that matter:
✅ Running to your bike (without forgetting how your legs work)
✅ Running off your bike (hello jelly legs)
✅ Pacing and managing varied terrain
✅ Building confidence on hills and varied terrain
Whether you’re sharpening up for Airlie Beach Tri, recovering from Yandina Five-O, or just keen for a cracking Sunday session with good humans — this is for you.
📍 Lions Park
⏰ 6:15am start
🏃 3km Run
🚴 19.5km Ride
🏃 4.5km Run
☕ Coffee afterwards (arguably the most competitive part)

And a quick apology from your slightly overenthusiastic comms person (Sue)
If you were planning to do this on your way to winning Kona, we may have accidentally oversold the guarantees 😬
Yes, Noosa legend Pete Jacobs may have been a club member… but he was apparently a little busy winning Ironman Cairns and Kona to squeeze in the Hilly Du.
No promises of world titles — but we can guarantee good people, good banter and solid training.
We love your work Pete ❤️
