Yuck. Nobody likes playing in that junk but 31 silly souls entered the comp with 15 having a social hit.

The early bird gets the worm and today Jason Dawes was the bird, teeing off first Jason carded 37 points and was never headed.
🏆and clubhouse $'s coming your way Jason. Very nice golf.
The only other to play to handicap was Tristan Martin, his 36 points had him on the 2nd step followed by the late charging Pete Baker on 35. Well played gentleman. Spend up those clubhouse $'s.

Thanks to Stephen 'Gilly' Gill who volunteered his tree maintenance services on hole #13 today, it's a never ending job out on course so the grounds team are thankful for your help.
Maybe next time a chainsaw rather than a 5 iron.

Well done to all the women members who played in the SA Country Women's week, held at Balaklava Golf Club, Wallaroo Golf Club and The Mount Gambier Golf Club. Report is the courses presented exceptionally well and from some of the videos players really enjoyed the off-course activities.
Congratulations to Alex Nicholls who won the Silver Salver Country Championship at Balaklava, backing it up with Tracey Moody to win the Silver Salver Foursomes Gross.
Donna Scotson had a day out at Mount Gambier winning day 1 with 42 points. and finishing 3rd overall.

⛳🏆 Congratulations to our Clare golfers on some fantastic results at the 2026 SA Women’s Country Week.

Representing Clare and competing for the A Grade Silver Salver, held at Balaklava Golf Club were Tracey Moody, Andrea Rowe, Sharyn Roberts, Glenys Pierce, Alex Nicholls, Heather Grace & Julianne Smith. Competing for the B Grade Bronze Salver at Wallaroo was Jodi Lehmann, and competing for the C Grade Bronze Shield at Mount Gambier was Donna Scotson 👏

A Nutrien Ag Solutions Par round for the 28 players and even though the course was in excellent condition, greens true and fast the scores were not as bright as the weather.
Trent Brown 0 won the 🏆and clubhouse $'s thanks to Nutrien Ag Solutions, Trent was 1/4 foot from dunking his tee shot on the signature par 3 #7, he sank the birdie. Enjoy the Wykari.
Great to have Stephen Gill back out, his -1 good enough for 🥈, Tom Hawker relegated to 🥉on a c/b.

Unfortunately there was a display of reckless cart usage on course. Imagine if our grounds team were to turn up to your workplace, for example you've just laid a concrete slab and they walk all over it, maybe pour a heap of water on it. You'd call that vandalism.
You doing circle work around another cart potentially damaging cart and course......we call that vandalism.
We won't name and shame but we have your details to follow up costs and if needed have absolutely no problem in barring you from the course.

5 eager young golfers braved a showery start to their 18 hole Stableford round.
The boys handled the heavy course conditions very well, with some great scores returned.

Winner: Tarq Liebelt-Seymon 37, Lachie Agars 36, Evan Lawrie 31.
Zavier Becker tried hard all day and Darcy Smith completed 18 holes for handicap.

Well done Lauchie with 36 points, his first 18 holes since gaining his handicap of 19.8.

Why, why, why?
The love of the game is why 23 stepped out for stableford comp by Gold sponsor Jim Barry Wines.
Conditions were tough with 🌧️and 💨persisting through the day and it got rather chilly out, not conducive for good scoring.
Only the par 3's and 10th playing less than 1 shot harder than par.

In a huge turn around in form from Thursday Mitchell Butler was the victor 🏆with 34 points and thanks to Jim Barry Wines gets clubhouse 💰's. The course played two strokes harder so Mitch played to his handicap, the only to do so. Well done Mitch.

In 🥈 was Daniel Wilson with 33, making the turn only 2 over Daniel was keen to get back out, rough conditions 12 through 14 hampered his run. Richard Sandow in 🥉with 32 on a 4 way countback from Anthony Rametta, Tom Hawker and John 'the GREAT Man' Nairn.

Paulett Wines & Bush DeVine Restaurant stroke round is what's played on the 1st Saturday of the month, the winners receiving vouchers to enjoy a meal at the Bush DeVine Restaurant and bottles of wine.

🏆88 net 67 was the winning score from Stuart Pike who is starting to feel his new clubs, may the honeymoon phase last for a long time. Very good golf Stuart in tough heavy conditions.
Harry Butler got over a case of early round wobbles to come home strong 95 net 71 for 🥈and family bragging rights, unfortunately for Dad Harry switched the wine for golf balls.
In 🥉off scratch with an even par 72 was John 'the GREAT Man' Nairn, eagle on 10 double on 11, bogey on 12 birdie on 13.

It's been a wet few weeks but the course is holding up rather well with the greens still form and rolling exceptionally well.
The grounds team trialed a members cart access which allowed the use of carts when the decision could have been to close access to carts. Under struct driving instructions members did the right thing which is pleasing.

We continue to invest in machinery that will help our Grounds Team in their push for further course improvement.
This week thanks to Metropolitan Machinery we took delivery of a Stargreen TD700 top dresser, this cool bit of kit will make top dressing easier and more efficient and ultimately better green surfaces.

Kids in candy shop were the men in the shed.
