EightyThree Equine Home of Waylon J Bronson

14/06/2026

Righto folks, we've just wrapped up the Young Stock Show in Goulburn with Eightythree Thunderstruck (Bronx), and what a fantastic first outing for the little man!

For his first trip away from home, Bronx took everything in his stride. He had a few little dances at shadows and the odd baby-horse moment, but overall he was an absolute superstar all day.

Results for the day:
🥉 5th in the Foal Sweepstakes from a quality and competitive lineup
🥈 2nd in the Stock Horse C**t Foal class
🥇 1st in the ANSA C**t Foal class
🏆 Champion ANSA Foal

We're incredibly proud of how he handled himself and the results he achieved. The highlight of the day was hearing the judge in the Sweepstakes comment that Bronx is going to make an exceptional ridden horse, noting his superb cadence and movement.

A huge thank you to the organisers, judges, and everyone involved in putting on a great show. We're excited to see what the future holds for this young horse. Big things ahead for Bronx! 🐴✨

Bronson and I had an awesome time at the Total Wimps One Day Event! 🐎✨
From flying over jumps to galloping across country like absolute chaos goblins with goals, we had the best day. So proud of this horse and the fun we’re having together.

Here are some of the highlights from our adventure 📸💨🤍

Thanks to The Good Broker Co Pelipa Park Equine Products Reigned In Ropes for getting us there and Jacky Perrott-Jones and crew for an awesome weekend

From Bronson’s reaction, you’d think he’d just come off a one-star eventing track 😂

After that last jump he was SO proud of himself he had to throw in a mid-air dance, a few bonus “invisible jumps,” and a cheeky little head toss for good measure. Pure main-character energy.

That’s his way of saying he’s having the time of his life… which tells me we may have missed his true calling. Forget standing pretty in the show ring, this boy wants mud, jumps, and a cross-country course.

And just to be clear, that little celebration? That’s as wild as he gets. Not naughty, just a horse going:
“WHEEE, I did my first cross-country course! Did you SEE me, Mum?! I was amazing!!”

(For the record… the jumps were about 30cm max, but don’t tell him that 🤫)

🚨 LAST-MINUTE SEND 🚨

At the literal 11th hour last night, I decided to throw Bronson and I into our first ever one-day event… with:
👉 zero proper dressage comps
👉 one show jumping round under our belt
👉 a handful of cross-country jumps… not even a full course

So naturally… we sent it. 😅🐎

💃 Dressage – and somehow, this horse delivered like he’d been doing it his whole life.
✨ Straight lines
✨ Square halts
✨ Smooth transitions
➡️ Scored 66.6% and placed 3rd

🏇 Show Jumping – calm, steady… until fence 8 (heading for home) where Bronson had a full “WOOHOO WE’RE DONE” moment 💀
…except we were not done.
➡️ Still pulled a 2nd place

🌊 Cross Country – out of the box in a canter, a few “let’s just trot and think about life” moments…
Paused at the water jump while Bronson confirmed it wasn’t a horse-eating monster 🐉💧
➡️ No refusals + 3rd place

🥉 OVERALL: 3RD PLACE

And just to spice it up… I hadn’t ridden him for two weeks before today (sorry mate 😬)

Honestly? Could not be prouder of this horse. From paddock ornament this morning to absolute legend by afternoon.

Bronson, you chaotic little overachiever ❤️

Some pics from the Extreme Obstacle Racing show

For those who’ve been following Bronson and my journey, you’ll remember our very first attempt at the whip… which went about as wrong as it possibly could. I accidentally hit him, in the nuts, and it took over 12 months for him to rebuild enough trust to even let me think about cracking it off him again.

Since then, it’s been a slow and careful climb. Some days we get it, some days we don’t. Honestly, it’s probably a mix of both our nerves keeping things interesting.

At the Extreme Obstacle Racing show this weekend, we didn’t place, but that’s not the story I’m taking home. Bronson faced obstacles he’d never seen before and handled most of them like a champ. A couple were a bit too much, but each class we came back better, braver, and more in sync.

And then there’s this moment in the video…
Cantering along, me swinging the whip, a soft crack in the air… and Bronson just flows forward like it’s no big deal. No tension, no worry, just trust.

That right there is my proudest moment of the weekend. 🐎✨
