âIâm so busy!â
This is a statement we all make regularly, what does it really mean to be busy?
Does it mean that you are making lots of money?
That you are a success?
That you are important and necessary?
That you have so much going on in your life that you need more hours in the day?
Earlier in my career, before embarking on my pursuit to âLive more Consciouslyâ, I remember working in mind numbing jobs, jobs where the busier I was, the faster the time went. This carried across to other areas of my life when I was doing the mundane, going through the motions, having conversations that I wasnât present, racing through lifeâŚ
I was unconsciously âbypassingâ the hours and days of my life.
Once I started opening my life up to expanded ways of thinking, educating myself through the teachings of globally renowned thought leaders. I came across the suggestion that âkeeping busyâ is a distraction from facing....OURSELVES. Basically being busy is a distraction from ever finding happiness.
BUSY = Occupied, Immersed, Absorbed, Unavailable.
Are these the kind of words we would want to use to describe our life?
My research has suggested this pandemic âavoidance strategyâ is so we donât have to deal with being uncomfortable. Firstly with our unique selves, the personal values we are compromising, the goals we are not meeting, the necessary trauma healing, addressing toxic relationships, addictions, the list goes on.
If we keep âbusyâ we donât have to face the hard stuff. The healing that is required for us to truly love and respect ourselves. To really live.
My personal journey, thankfully changed my life and I couldnât possibly look back.
I will later share more about my personal story and how it led to the creation of the Conscious Living brand but I thought it might be useful to share some of the simple tried and tested tips to get you out of the busy cycle and stop you feeling so stuck!
1. Silence - pure and simple. Just stop. Sit with yourself. Even for a minute, set a reminder in your calendar to just STOP and breathe
2. Meditation - taking note of the thoughts, inner critic, emotions, feelings, memories. Being ok with whatever comes up, then letting go. Everything is temporary nothing is permanent.
3. Breath work - following simple breathing techniques and going with what happens, the experience is different each time with a connection between mind, body and the soul and into altered states of consciousness, I have shifted and released emotional blocks and healed past traumas that sit in the body - this is the releasing the stuff we havenât dealt with and pushed down from our past.
4. Spend time in nature and be in the present moment, feel the natural energy of nature and get grounded.
These simple tips and techniques help start to shift old patterns, behaviours, beliefs and conditioning and give room to create new empowering ones. No its not a comfortable process but its an empowering one, giving the opportunity to let go of the things that no longer or have never served us and start to create what does.
Life is a journey not a destination, enjoy every moment that you can, live in the present moment, take on what is in front of you, a saying that I have taken from somewhere is âwhats in the way is the wayâ. Stop the busyness and start Conscious Living where you live life on your terms, yes it takes time and is a process, yes its uncomfortable, yes it takes effort, yes it involves change in possibly many areas of your life but its certainly better than living a life full of avoidance. Live Consciously!
