A very big THANK YOU to Community Bank Bright for their generous Community Grant of $3500 towards our 2027 Adaptive MTB Festival & Summit.

And another big thanks to everyone who turned out at last week's Twilight Tastings to vote for ACC in the bank's community poll.

We are thrilled to have received 100% of our requested funding, whch will go towards making our event an inclusive space.

The 2027 Adaptive MTB Festival & Summit will run in Bright from April 29-May 2.
It is a four-day festival of bikes, focused on improving opportunities for people with disability to participate in mountain biking.

The event builds on Alpine Cycling Club’s successful introduction of an adaptive category at its enduro event and feedback from riders about the limited opportunities to ride, compete, learn and connect with others.

A 2-day Summit will bring lived experience and industry knowledge together to explore how trails, events, facilities and destinations can better support adaptive participation.

Then the 2-day Festival will put this learning into practice through social rides, skills activities, equipment demonstrations and inclusive competition.

We welcome involvement from adaptive riders, speakers, equipment providers, community organisations, government agencies and industry partners.

Registrations will open soon! Head to our website for more info.

TOUR OF BRIGHT // We've got the riders - so let's talk volunteers!

Our little club's biggest weekend of the year is coming up from Dec 4-6 - and without volunteers, this event cannot run.

We need around 200 volunteers to contribute around 750-800 hours of volunteering across race weekend. It sounds like a lot because it is but, you know what they say - many (many) hands make light work!

Whatever your interest in cycling, we've got a role for you - judge, marshal, driver, registration assistant; there's plenty to do and you'll get a front-row seat to all the trackside action.

If you can help out, please head to the Tour of Bright page and sign up to volunteer now.

Thank you!

DIRT DASH! Well, that was a heck of a lot of fun!

A huge shout-out to everyone who turned out for our first/inaugural ACC Dirt Dash today.

It was a fun, fast, furious, crazy, chaotic crit race - that somehow worked out perfectly!

With a running start, mass participation, mid-race grading, CX-style obstacles, a randomly-timed finish ho**er and a mad dash to the finish line from wherever you were on course, we’re pretty sure there’s no other race like it!

VOTE FOR ALPINE CC // Our local Community Bank Bright is giving away $20,000 in grant funding to celebrate their 20 years in business; and the funding allocation will be decided tonight (Thurs Oct 15) at the Twilight Tastings event.

Alpine CC is one of three local (and all very worthy) Finalists for the funding.

We will use the money to help fund our upcoming Adaptive MTB Festival & Summit. This is a four-day event in Bright aimed at making Mountain Biking more accessible and more inclusive for people with disabilities.

And we would love your support!

To help support our club, you can visit the Bendigo Bank marquee at the Twilight Tastings tonight from 5-7pm and cast your vote for ACC.

**ROAD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP**
*By Lachie Stewart*

Arriving in Montreal for the Road World Championships was surreal. The advertising plastered throughout the city gave you a sense of the scale of an event this size.

Despite racing in major events throughout Europe, there was something so special about wearing the green and gold with the support of a whole nation. I finally met some of my cycling heroes, including Jack Haig, Matt Heyman and Michael Matthews - people who are truly larger than life yet so normal, sharing dinner and banter around the table.

After shakeout rides around the city, visiting courses and landmarks, and some laps around the F1 track and river, I was ready for my first race: the time trial - 26 minutes of all-out racing on one of the most technical courses I've ever ridden.

Between potholes, corners, climbs and speed bumps, Montreal made sure there was no losing focus. The TT felt like just another race until I entered the start house - then the adrenaline kicked in. Thousands of fans lined the barriers, waving flags and screaming as their voices echoed off the buildings.

Despite not feeling great and my heart rate skyrocketing, I had a long 20km ahead. I focused on hitting my numbers and managing my pace, but doing that through technical corners at 55km/h is easier said than done! The final minute-long climb was pure torture. The finish arch overhead was the only thing keeping me moving. I crossed the line absolutely spent, leaving everything on the course. It was good enough for 25th, with tired legs heading into the road race.

The week was an experience I'll never forget. It was an honour to represent Australia, and I'm grateful to everyone who helped me get there - my coaches, Alpine Cycling Club and, most of all, my parents. These things don't happen without a crazy amount of support.

A massive thank you to Alpine Cycling Club for its generous donation towards my dreams. They're truly the greatest club in Australia, and I'm so proud to be part of this awesome community.
