🚨IMPORTANT BEACH & WILDLIFE NOTICE 🚨

Bancoora SLSC is asking all beachgoers, members and dog owners to please be vigilant following reports of sick and deceased wildlife showing signs of H5 bird flu.

🐦 If you see sick or dead wildlife:
❌ Do NOT touch or handle it
🐕 Keep your dogs well away from the animal
📸 If safe, record what you see and take a photo
📱 Report sightings via the online reporting form or call the Emergency Animal Disease

MEET GUILLAUME ROYER!

One of Bancoora SLSC’s next generation of leaders — and what a journey it has been in just one season.

Guillaume joined Bancoora SLSC only last year, earning his Bronze Medallion in October before jumping straight into our Young Guns program. From the beginning, he threw himself into patrols, developing his lifesaving skills, confidence and knowledge while learning from the experienced members around him.

But it wasn’t long before the hockey stick was swapped for an IRB throttle. 🏑➡️🚤

After building his skills through patrols, Guillaume quickly found his way into IRB racing. He gained his IRB crew qualification at Elwood LSC and went on to both crew and patient in IRB competition, developing a well-rounded understanding of the sport from both sides of the boat.

He joined the 13th Beach IRB Team alongside the rest of our Bancoora members, where his first season proved to be nothing short of eye-opening. Guillaume embraced every opportunity to learn, compete and challenge himself, quickly making his mark on the Victorian IRB scene.

He completed the Victorian IRB season to perfection, earning selection in the Victorian IRB State Team and the incredible opportunity to represent Victoria at the 2026 IRB Australian Championships. 💙💛

But the recognition didn’t stop there.

At the Bancoora SLSC Awards Night, Guillaume was awarded Best First Year — a huge achievement and a reflection of just how much he has contributed and developed in such a short time.

From earning his Bronze in October, joining Young Guns, developing his skills on patrol, swapping his hockey stick for an IRB, learning to both crew and patient, and ultimately representing Victoria — all within his first year at Bancoora.

One season. One huge journey. And this is only the beginning. 🚤🔥

A huge congratulations to our Bancoora members who proudly represented 13th Beach at the 2026 Sharkskin IRB Australian Championships in the Under 23s division! 🌊🚤

For many, this was their very first Australian Championships, and we couldn’t be prouder of the commitment, hard work, and determination you’ve shown throughout the season.

A special congratulations to Cooper Welsh, and his team, on making the Tube Rescue Final—an outstanding achievement on the national stage! 👏

We’re incredibly proud of all our athletes and grateful for the opportunity to compete alongside the 13th Beach IRB Team.

🚤🌊 What a weekend at the Under 23s & Masters State Championships in Port Fairy!

Several Bancoora members had the opportunity to compete alongside the 13th Beach IRB Team, giving it everything we had while gaining valuable experience, building confidence, and continuing to develop throughout the competition.

A huge congratulations to our Masters competitors:
🥇 Arran and Leigh, with Bella Watts as patient, for taking out Gold in Tube Rescue.
🥉 Leigh, Arran, Caitlin and Xavier for Bronze in Mass Rescue.
🥇 Aaron and Leigh also teamed up with Bourke and Nathan to claim Gold in the Men’s Masters Teams event.

Congratulations also to our Under 23 competitors:

Bella Watts took on LSV’s U18s Camp last weekend 🌊

Stepping into a leadership environment alongside other young lifesavers, Bella spent the weekend developing leadership skills, building new connections, and taking part in activities focused on teamwork, communication, and personal growth. From group challenges and learning sessions to hands-on scenarios, the camp was an incredible opportunity to learn both on and off the beach.

We’re proud to see Bella representing our club and embracing every opportunity to grow as a future leader in surf lifesaving 💙

National Volunteer Week- Day 6 💙

We would like to recognise and thank all of our officials for the incredible contribution they make to our club and sport.

From early mornings to long days on the beach, officials play a vital role in ensuring every event, carnival, and competition runs safely, fairly, and smoothly. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment behind the scenes often go unnoticed, but without you, our sport simply would not be possible.
