BBA ANNOUNCEMENT ADDITIONAL FEE FOR SUMMER SEASON

Good afternoon Club Presidents,

At last night's Bendigo Basketball Association (BBA) board meeting, a proposal was presented and endorsed to strengthen and expand the safety, security and venue supervision arrangements during domestic competitions at Red Energy Arena.

The proposal includes expanding current Friday night security arrangements to accommodate the additional venue entry points that will become operational following completion of the State Government redevelopment, as well as extending venue supervision and security coverage to additional weeknight competitions. The initiative is aimed at ensuring Red Energy Arena continues to provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all players, officials, volunteers and spectators.

The proposal was supported following a benchmarking review across comparable basketball associations and venues. While many associations have had administration and security-related fees in place for several years, the model adopted by BBA remains at the lower end of the fee scale and is focused on supporting participant safety, competition management and operational sustainability.

As a result, BSL and the BBA will introduce a $7.50 Safety and Administration Fee through PlayHQ for the 2026/27 Summer Season when a player completes their registration. This is a one-off fee per player, per season, meaning players who register for multiple teams will not be required to pay the fee multiple times.

Please advise parents with children registering for two or more teams to contact [email protected], after completing their first registration. The BSL team will provide a discount code to remove the Safety and Administration Fee from any additional registrations.

To confirm, the fee is a one-off charge per player, per season and will not be charged multiple times where a player registers for more than one team.

We love a good-news story that celebrates the spirit of basketball in Bendigo. 🏀

🏀 A MOMENT WORTH SHARING 🏀

Tonight’s game between Beavers & Aztec had everything and the best part had nothing to do with the scoreboard.

Henry doesn’t take a lot of shots, so when his teamed learned he was sitting on 199 points, his Beavers crew rallied behind him, making the nights goal, to feed him the ball but despite their best efforts the shots just wouldn’t drop.

Then a young gun from the opposition, Will Isaacs, figured out what they were doing, grabbed the rebound, passed it straight to Henry, and stepped back to let him take the shot. It went in. 🙌🏻

That’s what this game is about. Talent is great, but character is everything. Massive thanks to Aztec Tiger Will for a moment Henry won’t forget. Congrats to Henry on achieving 200 buckets, and more kids like Will please. 💪🏼🏀❤️🤍
