The more children and young people are exposed to negative experiences in sport, the more likely they are to accept these situations as being normal.

To help children feel safe, supported and included when they’re playing sport, Sport Integrity Australia has launched Safe Sport Together, practical guidance that helps adults recognise positive behaviour, address inappropriate behaviour early and know when further support may be needed for children and young people in their sporting organisation.

Women’s participation in sport is about more than getting women onto the field. It’s about creating an environment where they feel they belong there. 💙
One of the things I value most about coaching women’s football is the opportunity to create a space where different ages, abilities and levels of experience can learn, contribute and enjoy being part of a team.
Not every player comes into sport with the same experience, confidence or goals. Some are returning after time away, and others are taking their first steps into senior football.
Creating genuine opportunities for women means providing an environment where there is room for all of them to develop.
Today’s result was great, but seeing players learn, grow in confidence, support each other and discover what they’re capable of is an even bigger win.
Participation grows when we create environments people want to be part of. ⚽💙

💙 THE 4THS MARCH ON! 💙
Our Ray White Bathurst Women’s 4ths, led by Karen Johns, took on CSU this morning in their elimination semi-final, and the girls certainly got the memo about setting the scene early!
Historically, they’ve been a bit of a second-half squad... but today they flipped the script. 😏
A strong opening half saw the girls head into the break with a 3–0 lead, and from there it was about staying composed, structured and working for each other.
CSU kept coming and managed to pull one back late, but our girls held firm to secure a 3–1 win and keep their finals campaign alive. 💪
There were strong performances right across the park, with structured support through the midfield, a solid defensive effort and plenty of work being done for each other. And a special mention has to go to rookie Eden Carter, who found the back of the net three times to bag herself a finals hat-trick. 🎩⚽

Community youth football should be about inclusion, development, enjoyment, and keeping kids engaged in the game for as long as possible.
Lately, it’s becoming harder to ignore the impact of team stacking, aggressive recruiting, and one-sided competitions across community club based football. Blowout scorelines might deliver short-term wins, but they can also lead to discouraged players, disengaged teams, and kids walking away from the sport altogether.
The goal at grassroots level shouldn’t just be building the strongest squads possible. It should be creating environments where all players can learn, contribute, improve, and feel supported regardless of ability.
Balanced competition matters. Development matters. Retention matters.
If we genuinely care about the future of grassroots & community football, then inclusion, sportsmanship, and player wellbeing need to sit alongside the ambition and success of the adults facilitating the space.
Every child deserves the chance to enjoy the game - how about we let them!
