🌼 Spring holiday adventures are here!

Give your kids a holiday filled with outdoor adventures, new experiences, creativity and plenty of time to explore.

Our holiday program is all about giving kids the space to explore, create, take appropriate risks, and follow their curiosity.

Think using real tools, archery, building fires, exploring the bush, creek adventures, tree climbing, nature crafts, and so much more!

And yes, there will be a fair bit of dirt involved, so be sure to pack spare clothes.

Bush Magic gives all children the freedom to be kids, outdoors, together, with space to explore, take risks, create and belong.

Kids are given the space to make their own choices and see where the day takes them. They might be climbing trees, building fires, using tools, creating something from scratch, exploring the creek, cooking over the fire or getting completely covered in dirt along the way.

There’s always something happening, but it’s never about rushing from one activity to the next. Kids have the freedom to follow their interests, try something new, take manageable risks, solve problems, get stuck, have another go and learn alongside each other.

Because childhood is meant to be experienced, not just scheduled.

And sometimes, the best learning happens when kids are given the freedom to simply be kids. 🌿

Things at Bush Magic that just make sense.

Learning to use tools by actually using tools. Because the best way to learn a skill is to have a go, with the right support around you.

Letting kids take the lead in choosing what they want to do. When kids have ownership over their day, they’re more engaged in what they’re learning.

Climbing trees because childhood should involve climbing trees. It’s a simple way to build confidence, coordination, problem-solving and a sense of adventure.

Making a real fire. Learning how to safely build, manage and cook over a fire is a skill they’ll remember.

Spending time in nature. There’s something about being outside that gives kids space to slow down, notice what’s around them and just be.

Cooking on the fire. Because food somehow tastes better when it’s been cooked on the fire.

Getting outside in all weather. Rain, cold, sunshine, every kind of weather gives us something different to explore.

Kids getting dirty. Because dirt washes off, but the experiences, skills and memories stick around.

And yes… we really do spend our days doing this. This is what Bush Magic looks like, plenty of time outside, plenty of choice and plenty of opportunities for kids to learn by doing.

Can you tell the difference between a male and female Monarch butterfly?

We’ve been seeing a lot of Monarch butterflies lately, so when we do, we take the time to slow down and observe, discuss facts and simply enjoy watching them go about their day.

They might look almost identical at first glance, but look a little closer and you’ll spot some pretty cool differences.

🌿 Males have two distinctive black spots on their hind wings. These are called scent patches, or androconia, and they release chemical signals used during courtship.

🌿 Females don’t have these spots. Instead, they generally have thicker black veins across their wings, making this one of the easiest ways to tell them apart.

Both males and females share that beautiful orange and black pattern, so sometimes you need to stop, look closely and notice the little details. Can you spot the differences in our photos?

And while males spend much of their time searching for females, females have the important job of finding milkweed plants to lay their eggs on.

Nature is full of little details. You just have to slow down enough to notice them.
