⛳️ FRIDAY SPOTLIGHT: St George Golf Club (QLD)

If you’re ever rolling through the Maranoa region, St George Golf Club is one of those proper local gems that deserves a hit.

Quick hits:
• Country golf vibes, no fuss
• Great spot for a relaxed round with mates
• Perfect detour if you’re doing a roadie through QLD
• Sand scrap greens, but grass tees + fairways (best of both worlds)

Have you played it? What’s the best country course you’ve found in QLD?

Find it on Golf Finder: https://golffinder.com.au

TUESDAY TOPIC: Is golf actually better than it was 20 years ago? ⛳️

It’s not just “on TV more” now… it’s everywhere.
YouTube golf.
Every man and his dog has a podcast.
Netflix.
Launch monitors.
LIV.

So here’s the real question: has the GAME improved… or have we just turned it into content?

My take:
• Access is better (more ways to learn, watch, and play)
• Everyone’s got tools now (YouTube tips, stats apps, launch monitors)
• But the “average handicap” hasn’t magically vanished: US data for golfers who keep an official handicap still sits around ~14 for men and ~27 for women

So what do you reckon?
A) Better than ever
B) Same as always
C) Worse (too much noise, not enough golf)

Drop your opinion and tell me why.

FRIDAY SPOTLIGHT: Highlands Golf Club (NSW) ⛳️

If you’re chasing a proper bushland test that feels miles away from the city, Highlands is a ripper.

Quick hits:
• Tight lines, heaps of trees, and holes that punish lazy swings
• Proper “think your way around” golf (not just smash driver)
• Great option for a weekend hit when you want something different

What are you picking?
A) Tight, strategic, tree-lined golf
B) Wide-open bomber’s paradise

LIV is dead. Long live LIV 2.0.

In just 5 years, LIV didn’t just “shake things up”… it forced the entire world golf system to move.

What changed because LIV existed?
• Australia got a genuine global golf event again (Adelaide sold out from day one)
• The PGA Tour lifted prize money and tweaked player image rights
• The wrap-around season is gone
• The DP World Tour got squeezed, and now sends its top 10 across each year

So here’s the real question: what happens next?

Does LIV 2.0:
A) Become a proper global tour that co-exists
B) Get absorbed into a unified world tour
C) Fade out once the “war” is over

No fence sitting. What do you reckon the future holds?

FRIDAY SPOTLIGHT: Kangaroo Valley Golf Club (NSW) ⛳️

If you’re chasing a proper escape round, Kangaroo Valley is an absolute beauty.

• Scenic valley views and that “get me back here” vibe
• A mix of holes that keep you honest (no cruise control)
• Perfect for a weekend trip with mates

Would you rather play a stunning course that’s a bit quirky, or a perfectly manicured track that’s a bit bland?

BALL ROLLBACK: good for golfor just punishing the average punter?

I am all for protecting classic courses, but if the fix only hits the top 0.1% while the rest of us still play 4.5 hour rounds, are we solving the right problem?

A) Roll back the ball
B) Fix slow play first
C) Leave it alone and let courses adapt

MICHAEL BLOCK'S DISQUALIFICATION: RULES ARE RULES, OR TOO RIGID? 🤔

Michael Block claimed he had a left wrist injury at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship in Scotland. He told his playing partners he was withdrawing. He even tried to report it to someone in a European Tour jacket.

But he didn't follow the proper protocol. He needed to find the tournament director, not just walk off the course.

So the Legends Tour DQ'd him instead of giving him a withdrawal.

Here's the thing: the rules exist for a reason. You can't have players just disappearing whenever they want—real injury or not. Tournaments need to know what's happening, when it's happening, and why. That's the integrity of the game.

But does that mean the rules are too rigid? Block did everything a reasonable person would do. He told his partners, he tried to report it. Should common sense override protocol when a player is injured?

Are the rules too strict, or did Block deserve the DQ for not following procedure?

COULD THE AUSSIE OPEN HAVE BECOME A MAJOR? 🤔

The Aussie tour just announced their schedule. They're bringing 1 big name down, but here's the thing—they had a chance to bring them *all*.

Imagine this: Cam Smith, Lucas Herbert, Leishman, Mickelson, DeChambeau, Watson, Neiman, Johnson. Add the best from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. All in one field. All playing the Aussie Open.

That's what they walked away from when they didn't partner with LIV.

Would that field have been enough to finally get major championship status for the Aussie Open? Would Australian golf finally have had a seat at the world's table?

Instead, they went safe with the PGA Tour guys who historically won't travel. Now they're hoping for 1-4 players if they're lucky.

Was it smart planning or the biggest missed opportunity in Australian golf history?
