A lot of golfers struggle and over-complicate chipping and short wedges. Working from a narrow stance and focusing more on lead leg pressure is a great way to ensure ball first contact, which is the single biggest key when it comes to wedge play.

As the shot distance increases, we can widen our stance width, to support the added speed. As we do this, it is important that we still remain centered and get more to our lead side before contact.

Your golf swing is an athletic movement. It is a pattern that your brain has adapted to making. To improve your golf swing, we are often needing to alter this pattern.

A key first step in this process is understanding the objective. Next, it is helpful to have some encouragement to move in the desired way. This form of movement discovery helps enlighten the brain on this new pattern. Lastly, we want to add some resistance to getting into this new movement. This is where a lot of the magic happens. The brain learns to fire the necessary muscles to achieve the desired goal. Once the resistance is removed, it will feel significantly easier to perform the pattern.
