There's a type of yoga you might not be familiar with. It's not the Instagram kind, nor the one that demands you to be super flexible, have a certain body type, or spend years mastering it to feel like you fit in.
This is the kind where you begin just as you are. Lifting one foot off the ground is plenty. Progress is personal, and no one is judging your journey.

This version is real, and I teach it.

Two weeks to go until Strength in Layers opens.

It's a pre-recorded course, so you move through it in your own time and at your own pace. We start off and wrap up with live classes, but everything else is flexible.

It's built on progressions - every movement starts simple and builds in layers, so you always know where you are and what comes next. No prior experience or flexibility needed. If you're interested, now's a great time to join.

Comment "Strength" to know more about the course or go to the link in bio.

Every pose has a purpose. It's not about looking good - it's about a functional one. It exists to do something: to strengthen, to stabilise, to open, and they bring attention to parts of your body that might have gone unnoticed. The shape is simply the vehicle or a means to an end.

Take a simple standing pose. The purpose isn’t to stand. It's about understanding the connection between your foot and the ground, observing your weight distribution, and noticing which muscles are engaged and which ones are not. You can get all this insight in the simplest moments of the practice - if you’re present enough to receive it.

I had a vision in my head of how I wanted to look practicing yoga, and this version was trying to look like everyone else on social media. This version of me was still focused on flexibility and fixated on finding complex poses to master.

Then I remembered, it wasn't about the look, but rather the yoga itself.

Yoga isn’t about the shape. It’s about what happens inside the shape. How it feels. What it gives you. Whether it helps you move through your day with a little more ease and a little less pain.

After injury, illness, surgery, or simply the changes that come with time - it's so common to feel disconnected, frustrated, or like you've lost trust in yourself.

Rebuilding trust with the body is not a single moment of transformation. It's an ongoing relationship - nurtured through small, consistent acts of attention and respect. Each breath, each movement, each moment of honest awareness is part of it.
*Practise mindful awareness*
Pause throughout your day to check in. Notice sensations, energy levels, emotions. Ask what your body might be communicating - and let that guide your next choice.
*Respond to what you hear*
Trust isn't built by listening alone - it's built by acting on what you hear. When the body asks for rest, nourishment, or gentleness, responding reinforces that it can rely on you.
*Question the expectations around you*
Cultural messages about productivity, appearance, and performance run deep. Try shifting the focus: what does your body make possible, rather than how does it measure up?
*Meet yourself with compassion*
Reconnecting takes time. Some days will feel easier than others. Offer yourself the same patience and kindness you'd give a close friend going through something similar.

Every breath, every action serves as a reminder that you, too, deserve to be tended.

Yoga is more than flexibility.
When you start paying attention to how you're breathing, how your body actually feels, what's going on underneath all the noise, things get interesting.
You start to notice stuff. All the tension you've been carrying without realising. The difference between pushing through and actually feeling held. And bit by bit, the relationship you have with your own body starts to shift.

Less judging. Less ignoring. More just... listening.

That's where something like trust starts to quietly build. Not because everything suddenly feels good or works perfectly, but because you're finally in the room with yourself - present, and a little more gentle about it.
