A dance lift may look like one person is doing most of the work, but it is never a solo moment.
Both dancers must stay engaged, balanced and connected. One partner provides stability and direction, while the other remains responsive and aware. When both dancers listen to the movement and trust each other, even an ambitious lift can feel surprisingly light.
That is what makes dance lifts such a wonderful example of teamwork. The applause may come when someone leaves the ground, but the magic begins earlier, with the preparation, the shared count, the breath and the quiet understanding between two partners.
A lift is not one person leading while the other simply follows. It is a conversation created through movement.
