Greenbushes Prize Giving

The annual Greenbushes prize-giving was a resounding success, with many achievements celebrated and plenty of camaraderie shared throughout the evening. A huge thank you to two legends of the club, Willie von der Marwitz and Tony Dell, for handing out the awards and prizes to our deserving winners.

We were also treated to a fascinating presentation from Kyle Hewitt about the species found in our waters and the catch trends over the years. There was plenty to learn and it was a great insight for all those in attendance.

The night was capped off with a family braai, ensuring that everyone felt included in the celebrations of some top-class angling and a fantastic season.

A great evening celebrating the club, its anglers and the camaraderie that makes Greenbushes such a special club! 🎣

With the new season kicking off soon, we wish all of our anglers the very best of luck for the season ahead. May it be filled with tight lines, great catches and plenty of memorable days on the beach with amazing team mates!🎣🏆

Reflecting on the 2025/2026 Season 🎣

Stats are always interesting — and they often speak volumes about the performance, consistency and strength of both individuals and teams.

Greenbushes has once again shown why we are regarded as a powerhouse club in the Eastern Cape. With 38 anglers competing throughout the 2025/2026 season, our members collectively landed an incredible 762 fish for a weight of 3 541 tonnes, averaging 4.65 kg per fish.
Those numbers are a testament to the dedication, competitiveness and consistency that has been built within our club.

With the new season on the horizon, the excitement is building and we’re all looking forward to getting back into that competitive mindset and seeing what the season has in store.

Watch this space for upcoming events, results and club news.

Here’s to another big season for Greenbushes! 💪🎣

With the conclusion of the Masters Tournament, we have some incredible achievements to celebrate at Greenbushes.

The Eastern Province team secured a well-earned silver medal, narrowly missing out on gold to Boland in a fiercely contested competition.

A special mention to Jody Hardiman, who guided Boland to their gold medal victory, as well as being named guide of the tournament — a fantastic achievement.

Congratulations to Ian Wedderburn, who finished an outstanding 5th overall and has been selected for the Masters Presidents Team to compete in the Gus Khollner Tournament later this year.

We at Greenbushes are immensely proud of all our anglers and their remarkable achievements. Well done to everyone involved — you’ve done us proud!

🌊 Quadrangular Results 🌊

Greenbushes fished in the annual Quadrangular yesterday, going up against Surf Marine, St Croix and Volkswagen Angling Clubs.

What an incredible day! Many of our anglers filled their scorecards, and we even landed some Thorntail Rays — a rare and exciting catch for our waters.

With a team of 17 anglers, GB put in a massive effort and brought in an outstanding 1 326 kg! Most of the catches were Smooth Hammerhead and Dusky Sharks, along with the prized Thorntail Rays.

Events like these are all about camaraderie, good sportsmanship and building strong relationships. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE! 👏

A big thank you to the committee and to Captain Donovan Pickard for all the organisation behind the scenes. Another successful day for Greenbushes Angling Club! 🎣

Fixed Venue 2 Update - 22 November 2025

Our anglers faced punishing conditions at the second fixed venue of the season. Heavy seas and the missing east wind made the day far from easy, but the GB teams showed up with determination and pulled through.

Top Achievers Results:
• Caleb Webb – 1st in U21 Division
• Wesley Renken – 2nd in Seniors Division
• Donovan Pickard – Heaviest non-edible: 19.8 kg Bronze Whaler Shark

Well done to all who braved the conditions and represented GB with pride.

Fixed Venues resume 17 January 2026. Wishing all of our anglers tight lines over the festive period.
