When someone you love dies, it doesn’t just feel like loss. It feels like your whole past, future, and identity collapse at once. Melinda Ferguson puts it so clearly. Intimate grief doesn’t just break your heart, it changes your place in the world.

Your memories shift because the person you shared them with is gone.

Your future changes because the life you imagined no longer exists.

Your identity changes because who you were to them also has to change.

That’s why grief can feel like dying more than once.If this landed for you, send it to someone who gets it. 🤍

This was a taken three and a half years ago when I pulled the trigger on something I procrastinated on for 5 years! Today I reflect on 100 episodes of the The Xpect Performance Podcast . Stoked!

During that time, the show hit top 10% of video podcasts globally on Spotify in 2024 and 2025. Also during that time, I hacked away at learning how to use Adobe Premiere Pro from scratch. I uploaded files onto the major platforms in the early hours of Monday morning because my laptop ran out of space at the first attempt after 3 hours😂. There were times when I had to record solo episodes because I couldn’t find a guest in time. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve doubted and I’ve celebrated, sometimes all in the same episode 🤷‍♂️. There have been times when I questioned if a recording was worthy of putting it out there and it’s been a smash hit and others I thought were gold that have under 20 listens.

Thank you so much for listening and engaging. What a wild ride.

EPISODE 100🥳 Big thanks to Melinda Ferguson for being on the show to talk about all her incredible books including her latest memoir Swift.

Our individual capacity for good and evil is an eternal dual. Throughout history, this archetypal story is represented in every culture and religion across time, as we continually wrestle with this tension.

It’s incredible to listen first hand to how perceptive horses are and how they interact with their human companions.

All this and more in the latest episode with Rachel Venniker 🇿🇦

Racing is mental before it’s physical. If you ever get nervous before a big moment, save this and send it to someone who needs the reminder.

I love this approach:

Ask yourself, “what am I actually scared of?”
Name it- mistake, injury, pressure, all of it
Most of the time, the fear gets smaller once it’s out in the open
That’s the part people skip. Not because they’re weak, because they’re moving too fast to pause and check in with themselves.Maybe the real skill is learning how to get quiet enough to hear what’s actually going on. What’s the fear you usually have to talk yourself through? Episode 99 out now with Rachel Venniker 🇿🇦

In my discussion with Raksha Mahabeer , one of the moments that stood out to me was her reference to entrepreneurship being a mirror.

Entrepreneurship isn’t just a set of business skills, it exposes you to yourself.

We are conscious creators. This screams “intention” to me. So much of life is subconscious, our default setting, if you will. What I’ve learnt so far in my journey on this podcast, which Sophie Kish | Speaker, Master Coach for Female Leaders has put forward courageously, is that good things happen to intentional individuals. Taking time to live with intention and plan to create intentional outcomes is one of the most underrated skills in 2026.

Big shoutout once again to Sophie for being on the show. 😎
