As an additional service to producers, a nemlab nematologist is readily available to visit sites where nematode infestation requires first hand evaluation. Nemlab services are available to all producers whose objective is the health of their plants. The majority of samples received by nemlab originate from the vine and fruit industry. nemlab's diagnostic services are also used by various other producers and role players in the agricultural, turf grass, and nursery sectors. Companies that need trials done for the registration of new chemical and biological nematicides can approach nemlab for advice and the protocols required for these registrations. The sample data of the trials needed for these registrations can also be analysed by nemlab.

๐Ÿ๐ŸŒฑ The Nemlab team recently had the opportunity to attend the Apple Replant Disease (ARD) Seminar in Grabouw, hosted by Hortgro and Stellenbosch University.

The seminar brought together both local and international experts to share valuable insights into managing ARD, with discussions covering topics such as soil fumigation, anaerobic soil disinfestation (ASD), organic amendments, rootstock tolerance, and the important role of beneficial soil microorganisms in maintaining orchard health.

Apple Replant Disease remains a significant challenge for the fruit industry, affecting young trees planted in soils previously occupied by apples or related species. The build-up of harmful soil organisms can compromise root development, orchard establishment, productivity, and long-term sustainability.

A sincere thank you to the organisers, presenters, and everyone involved for hosting such an informative and engaging event. Opportunities like these strengthen collaboration and help drive practical solutions for a more sustainable future in agriculture.
