TEST OF THE BEST – DAGA FISHING COMPETITION 2026 – NEW DATES ANNOUNCED!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL ANGLERS!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Test of the Best Daga Fishing Competition 2026 has been POSTPONED.

But don't worry — we're not cancelling! 🔥

📅 NEW COMPETITION DATES: 3–4 OCTOBER 2026 📅

We apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause and thank everyone for their understanding and continued support.

Now you've got a little extra time to get your tackle ready, gather your crew, and prepare yourselves for one of the biggest Daga battles of the year! 💪🎣

🎤 Briefing: Friday, 2 October – 19:00 @ Bobbies Angling Club

🎣 Lines In: Saturday, 3 October – 15:00

⏰ Lines Up: Sunday, 4 October – 08:00

⚖️ Scales Open: Sunday – 08:00

⚖️ Scales Close: Sunday – 11:00
(You must be in the queue before 11:00 for your fish to qualify.)

🏆 Prize Giving: Sunday – 12:00

💰 Entry Fee: R350 per angler

From Salmon Bay (North) to the Umkomaas River North Bank (South).

🚤 Launch from any recognised launch site between Ballito and Umkomaas.

🎣 Fish anytime between Lines In and Lines Up, with unlimited launches during competition hours.

✅ Open line class.

📏 COMPETITION RULES

• Only ONE Dusky Cob over 1.1m may be weighed in per angler.

• No mutilated fish may be weighed for the Top 3 prizes.

• Please respect all legal bag and size limits in accordance with current fishing regulations.

🌊 Weather / Contingency Date: To be advised if required.

📸 By entering, anglers agree that winners' photos may be used by the organising committee for future promotional material.

Bobbies are aware of possible bad weather for the Daga Competition, we have set aside 2 alternatives 12/13 September and 26/27 September in case of bad weather.
Prize breakdown:
1st Heaviest Daga - R15 000 cash.
2nd Heaviest Daga- R10 000 cash
3rd Heaviest Daga R5 000 cash
All cash prizes sponsored by SMG Yamaha and Chery Umhlanga.
