Baie geluk aan ons twee Despatch Rolbalklub-manne! 🦅🦅

Despatch Rolbalklub wens Dieter Basson en Wouter Minnie hartlik geluk met hul verkiesing tot die Port Elizabeth en Distrikte Mansspan, wat ons distrik by die komende OP Mini-Distrikte Toernooi sal verteenwoordig. Die toernooi vind vanaf 24 tot 27 September 2026 in Somerset-Oos plaas.

Dit is altyd ’n besondere prestasie om gekies te word om jou distrik te verteenwoordig, en ons is baie trots daarop dat twee van ons eie Despatch-spelers deel van die span sal wees.

Ons wens ook al die ander gekose spelers geluk met hul verkiesing en vertrou dat julle die distrik met trots sal verteenwoordig.

Dieter en Wouter, geniet die ervaring, speel julle harte uit en weet dat die hele Despatch Rolbalklub trots agter julle staan!

Baie sterkte en maak ons trots! ❤️🦅💪

VENISON CLASSIC 2026 – MIDDELBURG BOWLING CLUB 🏆

Another Venison Classic done and dusted – and what a weekend it was! 🍻🥩

This was our third year enjoying this fantastic competition at Middelburg Bowling Club, and once again it reminded us why this weekend has become such a highlight on the bowls calendar.

A number of Despatch bowlers and teams made the trip to Middelburg this year, and it was great to see our club so well represented. A special mention to every one of our Despatch players who took part – well done! It is never only about where you finish on the leaderboard. Sometimes the best part of these weekends is simply being on the greens, enjoying the competition, the banter and the company of good people.

One of the things we especially enjoy about the Venison Classic is that it also gives us the opportunity to team up with friends from other clubs. Bowls friendships go far beyond the badge on your shirt, and it is always lekker sharing a weekend like this with people we normally play with – and against – throughout the year.

There were also two podium finishes involving our Despatch players this year:

Last year Anna’s team won the competition and Wouter’s team finished third, so we have certainly been fortunate to enjoy some good results over the past few years – but the trophies are really only a small part of what makes this weekend so memorable.

There were new friendships, old friendships, plenty of laughter, great bowls, lots and lots of food, a few drinks along the way 🍻😂 and, of course, plenty of venison to bring home! 🥩

To all the other Despatch teams and players who competed this weekend – well played and thank you for being part of another great weekend. Win or lose, it is always lekker enjoying this game together and representing our club in the spirit in which bowls should be played.

And finally, a huge thank you to Middelburg Bowling Club and everyone who worked behind the scenes. Your hospitality was absolutely next level once again. You know how to host a Classic, and you certainly know how to make people want to come back!

🏆 BAIE GELUK AAN ONS ENKELKAMPIOENE! 🦅

Baie geluk aan Anna Minnie, wat as ons Dames Enkels-kampioen gekroon is, en aan Rudolph Kilian, wat die Mans Enkels gewen het! Julle kan baie trots wees op hierdie uitstekende prestasies. 👏🎳

Ons wil ook elke speler bedank en gelukwens wat aan die kompetisie deelgeneem het. Julle is almal wenners in ons oë! Die goeie sportmangees, kameraadskap en gees waarin die wedstryde gespeel is, het die naweek besonders gemaak.

Dit maak ons ongelooflik trots om deel van Despatch Rolbalklub te wees en te sien hoe ons spelers mekaar ondersteun en ons klub se naam met trots dra.

🏆 ANNOUNCEMENT – CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS 2026 🏆

Despatch Lawn Bowls Club is proud to announce that we have received approval from Professional Bowls Association of South Africa to host the 2026 Champion of Champions Mixed Singles Invitational on 7 and 8 November 2026.

This will be the only PBA qualifying event in the Eastern Cape, with the winner receiving an invitation to the 2027 World Bowls Tour PBA Qualifier at Durbanville.

We are also delighted to confirm that Drakes Pride SA will return as our official sponsor. We sincerely appreciate their continued support of this prestigious event.

The tournament will feature a limited field of 36 invited players, competing for R19 100 in prize money.

A major highlight will be the professional live-streaming of both the semi-finals and the final on Sunday 8 November 2026, allowing bowls supporters to follow the decisive stages of the tournament from wherever they are.

📩 Invitations will be distributed from Monday, 3 August 2026.

We look forward to welcoming a strong field of champions to Despatch for two days of high-quality, competitive bowls.
