This is why we do it!
I have been asked countless times if the So Slow Running Club is a real club. I always tell people how I started running when I moved to Hout Bay because everyone here runs, it’s just part of the Cape Town culture, and you’d almost be an outcast if you didn't!
After a few months, I realised that for me, it was mostly about the motivation to get out into nature a few times a week. We truly live in one of the world's most beautiful cities, and it feels like a sin not to make the most of it.
Even after 17 years in Cape Town, I am still blown away by the spectacular mountains, coastline, and sunsets on a daily basis. Waking up early to hit Chappies is the perfect way to show appreciation for what we’ve been blessed with.
So, yes it is a real running club. It’s just not about being fast or breaking personal bests, it’s more about enjoying the view and making friends.
