🏫 Day 18. Before the World Cup, there's the work.

The Tag Rugby® Association has been building Tag Rugby® from the ground up in South Africa for 32 years. We run programmes in schools - including schools in under served communities. We train coaches. We grow the game where it's needed most.

The national teams heading to Coffs Harbour are the product of that work. They are proof that investment in grassroots sport pays off.

Minister Gayton Mckenzie, TRA is doing exactly what the DSAC mandate calls for. We'd love to do more - with your support. 🙏🇿🇦

Congratulations to our Women’s Open coach, Natasha Hofmeester, on being announced as a head coach of the SA Rugby Junior Girls Team! 🙌🌟

So well deserved 🇿🇦

Former Springbok Women’s players Natasha Hofmeester and Zolisa Noxeke have been appointed as the first coaches of the SA Schools Girls teams, that will take the field for the first time after the FNB U18 Girls Week next month in Gqeberha.

🌟 Day 17. Meet Amy.

Amy works as a teacher and fits training and fundraising in around serving her community. Tag Rugby® has been part of her life for 2 years - it's not just a hobby, it's a community.

This October, she will represent South Africa at the World Cup. The flights alone cost R24 000.00 - money she is raising personally.

Minister Gayton Mckenzie, meet the people behind the jersey. 🇿🇦💚

🌍 Day 16: Let's look at the bigger picture.

Many of the nations competing at the Tag World Cup in Coffs Harbour this October receive some form of government or national sports body support to get their teams there. Flights. Accommodation. Kit. Logistics.

South Africa's teams are doing it themselves - every rand raised by players, families, and private sponsors.

We're not asking for special treatment. We're asking for the same baseline support that all national sport needs.

Minister Gayton Mckenzie, South Africa shows up. Help us show up properly. 🇿🇦

🇿🇦 Day 15. We're still here.

Two weeks of sharing our story. Two weeks of tagging Minister Gayton Mckenzie. Two weeks of showing South Africa who we are and what we're asking for.

We haven't heard back yet. But we're not discouraged. We're determined.

46 South Africans are still training. Still fundraising. Still proud. And we're still posting💚

🇿🇦 Day 14 of posting until Minister Gayton Mckenzie sees us.
14 days. 14 posts. Two weeks of showing up - just like our players do every single day 🇿🇦

We've introduced you to our sport, our coaches, our community programmes, and the real human beings behind the jersey.

We remain hopeful. We remain proud. And we remain ready for that conversation, Minister Gayton McKenzie.

South Africa has 46 reasons to act. We've shared them with you, one day at a time. 💚🙏

🇿🇦 Day 13 of posting until Minister Gayton Mckenzie sees us.

A message from the current player and previous Men’s Open captain, Kyle Saunders.

“Government funding would make a huge difference in helping me and my team to prepare for the World Cup, without having to worry about fundraising. It would make a massive difference.”

We're proud of our leaders. We're proud of our teams. And we're still waiting, Minister Gayton McKenzie. 🙏💚

🇿🇦 Day 12 of posting until Minister Gayton Mckenzie sees us.
Meet Natasha.

Natasha has represented South Africa in Tag Rugby® and contact rugby as a Springbok.

She has been to the 2023 Tag World Cup and comes back every time more committed to the sport and to the country.

This World Cup might be her last chance as a player to pull on the green jersey at the highest level. She is going, whatever it takes.

Minister Gayton McKenzie, this is a great example of our loyalty to South African sport. 🇿🇦💚
