The second question after calibre is always timing. Here's what actually changes through the year.
May-August (dry winter) - the classic window. Bush is thin, grass is down, animals concentrate at water. Easiest spotting, coldest mornings. Book early; this fills first.
September-October (late dry) - our pick. Still open bush, warmer mornings, animals in good condition and predictable on water. Fewer hunters on the ground than mid-winter.
November-March (green summer) - thick bush, longer days, animals in excellent condition after the rains. Harder hunting and you'll walk more, but the light is extraordinary and the country is alive.
April - transition. Bush thinning, weather settling. Underrated.
On a farm like ours the dates are ours to set, so the real question isn't when you're allowed to come.
It's what kind of hunt you want. Easier? Come in winter. Beautiful? Come in summer.
